Old photos of Fellows Park

Looks like PatJennings to me, reckon Mick will be chuffed to be mistaken for him

Id get appointment at specsavers. We played in blue with white socks.

The screenshot from the video highlights Pat Jennings. I know full well we played in blue.

Should I assume you know I know that and you’re pulling my leg?

Mick Kearns definitely came out of retirement, or some kind of semi-retirement to play in the 83-4 cup run including the match away at Arsenal. I seem to remember he was steward at Aldridge club as well as playing part-time for us, although I could be wrong. Around the time the cup-run started we signed Tony Godden on loan from Albion but he couldn’t play in the cup.

Think I owe you all an apology it was Mick Kearns, I was there as well and could have swore Ron Green played. Just watched highlights and couldn’t believe what I saw but have to admit when you make an arse of yourself

It is really well worth reading though Buckley does come across as being a bit difficult at times!

What a photo - what a kit… :+1::+1::+1:

It’s great isn’t it?

Can anyone gove us the full list of players? I assume that’s Allan Clarke on the front row but I don’t know the others. Before my time. :grinning:

The WFC kit ream is Trevor Meath, Graham Sissons, John Harris, Terry Carling,Stan Bennett, George Kirkby and Arthur Cox. Front row is Ken Satchwell, Allan Clarke, Jimmy McMorran Nick Atthey, Colin Taylor and Frank Gregget.

Frank Gregg! !

Fantastic old photo. I remember about half of that team from my first season 1969. Unfortunately Allan Clarke had gone by then, would have loved to have memories of him playing for the saddlers

Did Jimmy Mcmorran go on to become the sponge and bucket man or is my memory playing tricks again?

A class apart virtually from day one but what a great help in his early days was big George Kirkby.

No that was another ex Villa man Jimmy Macewan.

Right I knew he sounded similar and had Villa connections. Dont reckon they would fancy a rub down with that bucket of cold water and sponge he used to carry nowadays!

It would soak all of their cotton wool.

Many thanks for that. Wish I’d been around to have seen that team.

I would be willing to go back in time just to see Colin Taylor play again. That was a great team in the 60’s.
I feel fortunate to have seen them play, will never get those days back…regrettably.
