It’s just not the same on a Tuesday night when the game itself was originally planned for a Saturday afternoon. It’s no secret that numbers drop when games are rearranged to a midweek fixture because people can’t be arsed after a days graft to go home throw your tea down your neck get showered and go back out again, and when it gets colder even more won’t bother. As was said on another thread I can see it effecting season ticket sales again next season if this is how it’s going to be each year.It felt like we were never at home last season on a Saturday afternoon and this one’s heading the same way.
Agree its also a problem selling half season tickets if most of the games are midweek I wouldn’t buy one as that’s a problem for me and I would really like to buy one when they go on sale.
Our fixtures are horrific, 2 games in hand losing ground then Wimbledon away!
Depends if you want to win the league. I’m sure plenty of 3rd place teams down the years have dug out plenty of draws on the road.
Interesting how the demands change as the season goes on. End of July I was only expecting 10th-11th again. Then after first month it’s a shift to perhaps looking at 7th.
Last few weeks the team certainly has a look of automatic promotion contenders especially some of the results with pretty much an entire backline missing and now it’s need to win every week away to win the league…
Interesting looking at the other results yesterday aside from Vale. Donny getting a 1-1 at home is good news as unlike last season they can’t quite string together a winning run. Crewe flown up the table after a slow start, I didn’t go last week so not sure how good they looked at Bescot?
Bradford and Chesterfield not winning is good as both could easily come with a strong second half of the season so the more points they drop now the better.
All to play for.
The Bromley game is the important one to win imo. Personally I’d have played that in the October break as they’ve really dropped off after a decent start.
Automatic promotion hopes start to tail off if you stop beating the bottom six home and away.
Don’t know what was going on in their game yesterday, but that 2nd half looked hectic.
6 yellows and a straight red for a sub who’d only been on the pitch 1 minute.
Of the 3 times we’ve won promotion from this league in my lifetime there have always been pivotal away wins around this horrible time of year. in 79 /80 we won 4 in a row including a trio of 1-0’s versus promotion rivals Bradford and Newport and a scrappy Friday night at York. In 94/95 we went 8 away unbeaten between September and January, and in 06 we went 7 including some proper shithouse wins at Hereford and Bury.
This Saturday is made of that same stuff.
I’ve seen Wimbledon this season and they are a typical “Wimbledon in the 4th division” outfit, beat these on Saturday and I will put my mortgage on being promoted, its a real litmus test.
That’s not a nice thing to do to your fellow supporters, or anyone for that matter.
@Sephiroth92 , without any malice or nastiness could you give me a rough idea of how old you are, it may answer a few questions I have regarding some of your posts.
Weathers meant to be turning this week so Wimbledon away not a bad fixture in the sense that its unlikely to get called off (compared to if we had to travel oop north)
Completely agree. I’d extend that to all the promotions people of our vintage have seen. Graydon’s first wasn’t just punctuated by, it was defined by hard fought 1-0 “backs to the wall” wins. Especially away from home.
I’ve loved the hidings this side has handed out so far. They afford us an effective extra point as a result of the goal difference boost. But as the opposition increasingly understand and mitigate our threat, the pitches get worse and the weather closes in, then the ask of the players changes a bit.
I watched the second half of the vale game yesterday. We haven’t won a game like that just yet.
We shall need to if we fancy top three (and why shouldn’t we?). And as you say, where better to start than Wimbledon away in late November?
Haven’t we had a recent away game there called off due to the weather in the last couple of seasons? Although I think it was Jan/Feb.
We’ll also see how their sinkhole repair holds up.
Questions ? I was only playing to live up to my negative imagine
I’m buzzing with how we’re doing
Just a wild guess but given his name on here maybe he was born in 1992, so 31 or 32
High level detective work lol
He could also be 92 and his marbles are not all there
I Could be 31 and my marbles aren’t all there
If his marbles aren’t all there, are we sure he knows how old he is?
I have more than enough marbles (2 jars ) your more than welcome to a jar ,few ironies and glasses in there as well .
My bodies older than 31 and my mind is younger so kind of meet in the middle so age is around correct x
