P-P vs WBA (H) - Tue 27th July, 7:30pm

The sad thing is that the loss of revenue/profit from tonight’s game, probably about £50k, could scupper the possibility of another quality striker coming in. Not sure if the Club would carry insurance for such an occurrence? No doubt the money from tonight’s game would have been built in to the cash forecast and projections.

It’s funny how people become such experts on things all of a sudden.

So a pre season friendly called off and we’re suddenly skint again. That’s it sack McDonald and get a loan striker in

No comment :wink::+1:t2:

Perhaps the pitch was installed by the same company that did the deep clean.

I’ve done Gillingham and Carlisle when the games where called off :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I’m no expert but it does make me wonder - the rain today wasn’t particularly prolonged, there was a period of about 2 hours of heavy rain, and the forecast was ok for after 7pm.

The only surprise is that we didn’t delay kick off an hour.

Surprised also that our pitch couldn’t handle it - but they do say that periods of hot weather followed by downpours cause lots of surface water

I was pleasantly surprised by the pitch before the Palace game but after both teams had warmed up you could see worn patches especially where I presume they had the mobile goalposts. It seems the deep clean firm are the same

Head groundsman left just recently. Coincidence? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye::stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I’m sure the club did everything possible to get the game on. Why wouldn’t they given that there were possibly 5-6 k attending?
Would love to see an announcement saying it’s back on tomorrow or Thursday though.
We could do with the Baggies fans cash. Shouldn’t be a problem for them. Most of their fans live closer to the Bescot than their own ground.

@philthesaddler maybe it’s something to do with the hardening of the ground from
The sun, increasing surface run -off?

I don’t know the composition of football pitches but rock strata in the foundations, lithology of soil and rock plus the strength of grass binding may have come too soon? One or all may come into play

Might be talking out my back side. I’m no hydrologist or geologist.

Refunds are going to automatically be processed so it doesn’t look like they are rescheduling it.

Personally I think Jeff Bonser sabotaged the game

Think WBA are going to spain Thursday anyway

If it’s rained so hard perhaps the seats are now clean?

The fact that surrounding fields without drainage systems didn’t flood begs the question why it did flood tho ,Is there a problem with the drainage system ,Ie damaged renewing the new pitch that had undertook an undersoil replacement too apparently .winter months will tell.

Really interested to see that, as a kid my grandad used to take me there regularly to watch the cricket ( but not in conditions like that!)
