P-P vs WBA (H) - Tue 27th July, 7:30pm

Have we got any new training gear in there Andy?

This is pretty bad news, both financially and from the angle of a further disruption to our pre-season. Unlucky and a real shame, lets hope the consequences arn’t significant.

It’s my 3rd home.

We will get relegated this season, shocking considering we have most of the Ali family playing this season, even Moeen has played acouple of games.

David Houghton is the best player I have seen there.

I went to Hartlepool in the 90’s…only for the game to be called off an hour before kick off because of a frozen pitch

Sorry Paul, didn’t notice what other stock they had in - straight in to the counter and out again.

BTW Have you seen the Kidderminster “Face in the Crowd” pic on Bescot Banter … ?

And with them getting into the league you may get to do it all again :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I have just messaged the club and told them to keep my refund as yesterdays postponement will be a huge financial blow.

Just been told all refunds have already been submitted.

For all of the negativity around the way we’re doing tickets now online, this is a huge plus that refunds can be issued at the click of a button.

Is that the David Houghton who coached Worcestershire back in the 90s?

I remember Vanburn Holder playing for Dartmouth for a while.

I don’t follow the B’ham league even in the papers now, and haven’t been to a match since about 1998 or 1999.

In the 80s ,the great Mustaq Muhammad, played for Walsall. I also think they had Indian spinner Dilip Doshi for a while.

I remember Mushy playing for Old Hill for a few years, but didn’t know he had played for Walsall. He was a key part (MOTM) of the Shropshire team which humbled Yorkshire in the Gillette Cup of 1984, which was a brilliant day.

I can remember Graham Yallop playing for Walsall, and he captained the Aussies. Also the excellently named Roy Virgin played for them, a consistent cricketer who never quite got the call to the Test team.

Unfortunately yes. Good job I wasn’t ‘playing away’…

Maybe he didn’t play for Walsall and I’ve misremembered. But the Observer and Advertiser had headlines like, " Marvellous Mushy." They became generic Black Country, but I think then , they were way more area-specific.

He could well have played for Walsall, I just always associate him with Old Hill. And Northampton, Pakistan and Shropshire, of course, though not necessarily in that order.

One weird thing I remember is seeing him in the crowd, on tele at Edgbaston, dressed as a cowboy. Probably Pakistan’s 82 tour. Turned out his club had a ," wally of the week," competition when the " winner" had to dress like that for a week!

I can find Old Hill in his record, but not Walsall. But I don’t know how I would have read this in pre- Internet days if he hadn’t played for Walsall. It’s a bit of a mystery.

I went to a day (or possibly two?) of England-Pakistan at Edgbaston in 1982. One incident I remember which has turned up on the Tele over the years is Bob Willis walking out to resume his innings after tea, but he’d forgotten something important, and had to walk back to the pavilion to collect his bat. :joy:

I remember that. That last innings partnership still made a few runs from what I remember. Very good Pakistan team ,that was. Miandad, Qadir, Imran, Muddasar, Moin Khan.

Yes, I can remember the tail wagged in that innings, and big Bob put on a few with Bob Taylor.

Zaheer Abbas was still playing for Pakistan on that tour as well. They were a good team to watch.
