Play Offs

I’m not sure anyone is so much as looking forward to it but it’s where we find ourselves.

Embrace it don’t fear it.

This is the harsh reality of the playoff hurdle we have to overcome - Chesterfield currently third in the form table - undefeated in the last 6 with 3 wins and 3 draws and a GD of +7.

This has Barnsley written all over it.

All depends on the outcome of the away leg, if it’s a draw or win we’ll see the ground packed. If we’re out of it then, it’ll be near enough empty.

Bit suprised we’re even 3rd favourites, probably won’t lump on :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

I wouldn’t be lumping on, Chesterfield are averaging two goals a game over the the last 6.

We are simply toothless up front, so it will be a case of keep it tight and try and snatch a goal, bit like yesterday.

What do we think the ticketing criteria will be for the away leg. Surely needs to be ST holders with a hefty amount of aways?

God, this season was summed up at 16.55 yesterday and the feeling of disappointment was nigh on unbearable… we saw grown men crying at the exit - I doubt BS and MS realise what this failure has done to our fantastic supporters…

Back to the PO’s and I reckon there’s no chance of us ‘keeping it tight’ against Chesterfield IMO - they are on a decent run, and have scrapped their way into the last PO spot (always a dangerous opponent statistically..)

They have some really dangerous players that when on form, will turn defences over - we could have so easily conceded yesterday when the Crewe lad fluffed his lines with only Simkin to beat - I doubt we’ll get that kind of luck vs Chesterfield and their strike power…

I hope for a draw away and then a late late show from us to get the job done at Bescot but I say that more in hope than expectation…

Hell of a post that

Like every Walsall supporter, I have suffered a lot just recently but the negativity on here is counter productive and almost a self fulfilling prophecy.

Notts County’s recent form is awful and yet I’m not sure that everybody is calling for their manager to be sacked. We beat Chesterfield WITHOUT Nathan Lowe and Wimbledon are average at best (we took 4 or 6 points - Notts County - off all of our play off rivals).

The other point to make is that Chesterfield, Port Vale, Doncaster and Bradford all pay BIG wages. Will Grigg is on £4k according to my Chesterfield supporting work colleague. Levi Amantchi was at Chesterfield earlier in his career, scored against them last time we played them and will be highly motivated.

In my opinion, George Hall is better than ANY of Chesterfield’s players.

If there was a best eleven based on play off teams, Barrett, Simkin, Allen and Hall would all be in it. Out of 44 first team eleven players, we may not have Jatta or Stevens up front, but we’re in with a very good shout.

The Crewe result proves that our players have spirit, heart and commitment to the cause. Give me that over the likes of Bradford’s Andy Cook any day of the week…

Does anyone know the position on Saddlers+? Is it covered or not?

I think we have a chance too. What need to find out and we will at Chesterfield. Did the result yesterday restore the confidence sadly lacking for the previous few games? If we are confident in what we are doing we can do this.

It will be on sky

I’d say STH with 5+ away games to start with would be fair

Will that narrow it down enough? Possibly

If they do one or two, then there are 2300+ people eligible for 999 tickets.

It would be unfair on the people that have been to the majority of games to miss out to the people who only turned up for Vale and Crewe.

They won’t do it but I think they should make it ten away games + season ticket to start with. That will narrow it down enough for the die hards to get one.

Then 5 away games + season ticket.

I’ll be honest I’m not that fussed if I get one or not. I saw enough yesterday, despite winning, to know we don’t have much chance.

But in fairness to those who go to most away games, there should be strong criteria.

Yeah, I think I’ve done 7 away games this season, but 10+ seems a fair place to start and then go from there.

Yeah I’d agree with that. I’m being selfish I hope the criteria is really high so there isn’t 3000 people eligible for 1000 tickets. I’d imagine they’ll announce something today, chesterfield already have their home tickets on sale, although I suppose we have an extra 5 days for the home leg so not as much of a rush for those.

Won at Barnsley in October 2015 and went into those play offs in decent form.

No good if you get the team and approach wrong on the day as Whitney did.

They had a slow start to the season. Going into these play offs having won 8 of their last 13…

Thanks for the reply but will it be on Saddlers+?
