Chesterfield it is that stand between us and another Wembley appearance. Just got to get on with it now. Cant keep on crying over what could and should have been. Noticed Bristol City are playing Sheff Utd in Play offs and last time that happened we got promoted. UTS
Agreed I am looking forward in anticipation of 2 good games against the Chesterfield. They are not unbeatable.
So 2nd leg date changed to Friday night.
Why?
We finished 4th, surely we should play Satutday.
Makes it impossible for me to get to the game.
It’s gone back to the original plan - 4th v 7th was always supposed to be on the Friday night.
Not looking forward to this, they give me Barnsley vibes.
Not just Grigg but loads of experience in their side today. Colclough, Tom Naylor, John Fleck (playing in the prem 18 months ago), McFadzean who was in Coventry team that lost championship play off final in 2023. Madden wasn’t involved today so might be injured, he’s their DJ type.
Paul Cook also has 2-3 promotions on his CV so he’s not going to be fazed by this unlike Sadler you’d think.
Think it will be a 2-0 loss there and then fall short at home.
Please confirm the time and day of the home leg
Friday 16th at 20.00
Let’s get the Bescot packed to the rafters and absolutely rocking for the home leg. You can’t beat a cup game under the lights.
Just hope we’re still in it after the first leg, I hope Sadler goes there with a belt and braces approach.
Not looking forward to these legs especially with our ex striker scoring for them today….
Thanks mate. I’m flying back from Jersey on that day. Will be close. Do I want to spoil my holiday mood if we lose? Do I want to spoil my holiday mood if we win and I miss it? Will I have a really good holiday after the last few months of torture? I will for the wife’s sake as she has had to put up with me since January. I need a holiday to recover.
Jammy bastard…
Well we drew there and beat them
here. Can we do the same again ? We have a chance but agree it won’t be easy.
Now’s not the time for the bullshit, save it for post season.
Few drinks in… Some pre playoff thoughts…
The Past (Jan-May): some of us could see how this was going, wanted Sadler out because it seemed the only way to get the best team playing. Others held out hope, thought it would work out. Anyway, it was all out of our hands, these were just opinions to cope with the tumbling results.
The Present (this weekend): After the shambles of the last months, totally legit to rage.
The Playoffs: None of the above matters. Believe. We are Walsall, and these players are good enough to beat Chesterfield, Notts and Wimbledon (and yeah, to be realistic, also capable of ballsing up, but…)
The Future (August): we’ll be piling back into Bescot. Some won’t be with us, because this was their last season. Some will be with us for the first time, because they’ve got the same hereditary disease as the rest of us… And those new ones who stick it out will know something that no Premier League fan will know, that this is something far more intangible than results, something way more profound than the cost of your strikers, or your opportunity to randomly hand some Belgian team a penalty in a nonsense Euro competition. They’ll have the same insight that means that if they meet a fellow football fan, they’ll probably be more interesting (and deserving of respect/disdain) if you find out they support Mansfield rather than Man City. That local following, that family following, already outweighed success. But this time, August 2025, it’ll be different even more. It’ll barely matter if that first game is against Gillingham or Leyton Orient: this time, even amongst lower league peers, being a Walsall fan will mean something different. The battle scars of this mental season: there’s not many football fans who will ever be able to boast those. We’re already a rare breed, but after this, league one or league two, Sadler or not, we remain Walsall!
COYS!!!
Very Marin Luther King.
Love it.
From the EFL play off rules regarding tickets:
The capacity of Chesterfields SMH group stadium is quoted variously between 10,600 and 10,400. !0% of that gives us between 1,060 and 1,040. However the away fans are typically given the North stand which holds just over 2,000. There are going to be a lot of disapointed walsall fans.
We’ll get the side again which is just shy of 1,100
If so we should give them the side and us have both ends, although that could be a bit embarassing if we 3 down after 1st leg
I find is astonishing that anyone would look forward to this.
Fair play in a way
Just want it all over. Horrible
We all know what will happen……Will Grigg scores the winning goal to get Chesterfield to Wembley.
This is Walsall…..where nothing good ever happens for loyal supporters
