Any thoughts on the acoustics in the away end yesterday in comparison to the Hamil Rd stand? Vale swapped ends in an attempt to improve the home atmosphere at VP. We couldn’t make it yesterday but having watched numerous social media vids I don’t see that new away end is much different, certainly not in terms of noise levels.

The atmosphere isn’t much different.

The old away end is a better end though I’d say.

For one it’s more of a ball ache to get to the new away end, especially in bad weather conditions.

The old away end had a proper concourse also didn’t it? Very limited facilities in the end we were in yesterday.

Edit

Also two big stanchions that block the view quite a bit in our end yesterday.

Terrible trek back to the coaches, especially in yesterdays conditions, prefer the old away end straight out onto the coach, and if they are trying to improve the acoustics of the home fans well they need them to make some noise, not change the stand, shit support.
Took us an hour to even get out of streets around the ground, dump.

Not strictly correct, average for relegation in League 2 is 41.8, or 42.8 to allow for a crap goal difference. So only 6 more to be safe from relegation.
@Bluejay 's target for us now represents about 1.64 ppg from here on in, so unless something abysmal happens we should do that, even a poorish run from here, say 1.33 ppg will get us to 74 points. Autos seems on the cards for me.

Was there any trouble yesterday?

The old away stand is a better stand and far more accessible but not much different acoustics wise. If that’s why they did it I thing they’re addressing the wrong problem there.

I assume they must make arrangements for those less able to enter the new away end in a different way other than the trug through that muddy path otherwise they definitely fall foul of accessibility law. You have to watch your footing in those conditions if your able bodied.

Not that I saw.

Just seen this on Vale’s message board.

'…It was as boring as there seemed little enthusiasm in the Vale players to entertain .

About the only good thing was the noise generated by the away support’

We had to walk thru centre of burslem past all the home pubs and was no trouble as they was all inside soaking there sorrows , think the cold wet weather helped keep the nutters away My god that was a cold walk back to the car but worth it

Difficult to judge the performances of both sides in that awful weather but felt we dealt with it a little bit better and adjusted a bit better to it.

Great win, great atmosphere. Nice to be top but let’s just to try and keep pushing away from the play off spots.

Remember when we went in May 2016 - they sold out of beer and reckon that could have happened again yesterday if we’d been up there. Much better facilities up there and I reckon they must be losing out financially on days like yesterday having a few hundred there as opposed to a few thousand.

For what it’s worth, Vale fans aren’t happy with switch either. Not that they’d miss walking through that quagmire yesterday.

As for match, to a man thought we were brilliant. Special praise for Stirk though - he started last season well but lost place to Comley and then was limited to substitutes appearances. He has been immense all season and covers every blade of grass. New contract needed!

4 league games before January. 3 at home (Barrow, Doncaster & Newport) + Harrogate away. Trying not to dream.

Let’s see where we are on January 1st (Notts Co. away).

But surely those fans could be housed in the side stand

18 points available to us over 6 games in a 21 day festive period. Includes Donny, Notts County the trickier ones on paper.

2 Points per game means 12 points would be the decent return.

Crucial period of the season coming up over Christmas and the New Year.Games come thick and fast and the whole squad will be called upon, this season we do have decent back up players though so if we can keep players fit through this period and rotate without effecting performances too much we could come out the other end still in the top 3.Personally though I’ll be saving my excitement for after the January window shuts because if we can maybe add one or two coupled with keeping what we have now untouched I think we may have a very realistic chance of promotion.Long way to go of course and there will be bumps in the road that’s probably the only thing you can guarantee.

Don’t think you are aloud to just do that now, hence changes we’ve made to our away allocation for home games. Can you imagine everytime you go away being told you can’t be with the rest of our fans you’ve got yo go and side over there on your own.

The side stands are Fail home support though. It’s not as if they are being put somewhere on their own.

Just played that back at half speed, glad theres no goal line technology in our league🤣

I thought it was over the line too, although i’m not 100%. Anyway we will have them go against us as well before the season is out.

Whole of the ball has to be over the line remember
