The ref and linespeople tomorrow (from the Fail’s OS):
Surely that’s the case for a lot of games tomorrow?
I’m just saying I know ones planned, Nothing more.
With these situations, it matters if the weather is going to relent, which it is not. Whatever it is like at, say, 8 am, it is going to be worse at 12:30pm and later.
Good evening saddlers
Vale fan here. Just a few thoughts from here in Beirut!! Just been to Vale Park and the pitch has a large waterproof cover on it with hot air being pumped underneath, therefore won’t be a problem with frost and/or waterlogging. However, winds are forecast gusting to 55-60mph tomorrow so this may cause a bigger problem!
Anyway, onto the match. I’ve been supporting Vale (or is it Fail?) since 1970. I have been seriously traumatised in my youth by your lot. I can’t EVER remember beating you in the 70s and 80s and I still have recurring nightmares about one Alan Buckley. Wonder if he’s still alive? If so you should play him!
As far as rivalry is concerned I can confirm, as far as older Vale fans are concerned, you are second only to Sjoke(we call them lardies as they’re all fat!). While Crewe are only 13 miles away we consider them as a pretty insignificant irritation though, I have to say, the shunters were a very good footballing side at Vale Park recently. The likes of Tranmere, Shrewsbury and Burton are similarly distanced from Walsall but are not conndidered rivals at all.
I’ve been following your form and forum and your form seems to be up and down recently though obviously, being second, means you’ve generally been very good over the season.
We have been garbage recently! Sound defensively but woeful going forward. Darren Moore seems to play for 1-0 wins and in my mind is far too negative. I’m unconvinced by him. Think we’ll finish fifth or sixth unless we get George Byers fit and buy a new striker in January.
IF the match is on I predict Vale 1 Walsall 2 with your Sjoke loanee netting in the 98th minute followed by the obligatory “shit on the Vale tonight” song. Attendance 8944(think home support will be hit by monsoon conditions and a wind chill down to -11!. BTW very impressed with your travelling numbers. We only took 2300 to Notts earlier this season, though I suspect we’ll bring in the region of 3k+ to yours if there’s anything on our return match. What’s your capacity now?
Right, I’ll wish you good luck for the rest of the season(after Saturday!). Walsall are a proper club with passionate fans.
We used to sing “we hate Walsall more than Stoke”. We don’t hate ANYBODY more than The Lard but you’re a close second!
UP THE VALE😂
Evening Valiant, Sir Alan is still very much alive, and in the same spirit as the European team in the Ryder cup had Seve embroidered on their shirts, all our players will have Buckley on theirs. The weather sounds like a typical balmy day in Stoke, so game on
Was it Roy Sproson who said Walsall could send 11 dustbins to Vale Park and they would still win? We pulled off that trick more than once.
The upside if the game is called off …
-
We don’t all get soaked and chilled to the bone by the wind.
-
Jellis will be fit for the rearranged date (and possibly a couple of others).
-
We keep Lowe out of the limelight so no one else watching on Sky becomes interested in taking him.
-
We’ll probably have played our other game in hand or otherwise be above them by then.
3k? That would be significantly up on your last visit. Or have you just generated a figure that is conveniently higher than the 2900 we are bringing tomorrow?
2245 was the figure for your spoiled end of season promotion party in 2022. Sure 3k next time.
Yes , they will never bring over 3k
Their ticket sales look poor tomorrow aswell.
Fifth or sixth? Hope not, I hope we both go up. I hate this division and would sooner a trip up to the Pots for a League 1 Staffordshire derby, than a trip to Wimbledon or Milton Keynes.
The downside to the game being called off…
- We get a poxy tuesday night re arranged game … AGAIN
Nowhere near the numbers we’re taking tomorrow… ( could of been even more with a 3 p.m kickoff … fooking Sky )
Really hope the game goes ahead
Jonah
As we took 2300 to Notts a couple of months ago in a relatively ordinary early season match and with no rivalry between us and Notts, do you really think we would not take a further 700 to one of our fiercest rivals which is a shorter trip just down the M6 in what will likely be a much more important match? Hmm….
What’s happens to your sales tomorrow?
Is it not a big game?
No. You didn’t last time.
Our sales looked similarly poor a day before the Crewe game but ended up selling nearly 8000 home tickets. Maybe the weather OR perhaps we just have shite support?
I will bring 8000 medals with me tomorrow.
It’s a strange one , I thought you’d have the place rocking.
Make sure they’re gold!
We can’t say a fat lot about Vales support tomorrow to be honest, we’d love to have 7,500+ home fans for a league fixture
Our gates are still crap considering this team is worth supporting
