Stoke lost again tonight now only 4 points above relegation.
Nice comment on the Reading board … approaching half-time someone asked the question “Where are you watching the game?” - to which the instant answer came in the reply "From behind the sofa"
pleased that we won as I would have felt a bit miffed had we lost a game we dominated. With a bit of thought and composure we would have won comfortably. The sendings off seemed to unsettle us more than them and our crossing was erratic and wasteful. Pleased to see so many fringe players get time on the pitch and although regular first teamers were called upon Sadler either took them off after about 75 minutes or just gave them 25/30 minutes. They should be OK for Saturday which is far more important.
And crucified if he didn’t.
Hopefully with the teenagers not working they’ll go in for an experienced striker instead of another youngster
Could and should have won by at least 5 goals tonight with our 2nd team against readings 2nd team.
Browne impressed me and showed he is more than capable as cover for Barrett.
Hall had a good game and is really getting what sadler wants from him now as regards to getting forward but also getting back
Hornsby was
Amazing apart from one mistake which may have been a foul not sure
But the most impressive thing for me was that we have players in reserve who show so much commitment and give 100% to try and force there way into sadlers thoughts
Which is great
Ade got the winner in the 90th.
Glad I went. Very entertaining…plenty of good stuff but not so good in front of goal until the penalties. We clearly have strength in depth except for another big number 9. I think I would try and get one in during the window.
Incidentally Matt, Stirk, Jellis , Farquaharson , Williams and DJT watching from a box tonight.Good to see them enjoying the shoot out.
Nope and should I?
Glad your having fun x
Draw on Saturday to find out who we get next.
A keeper in luminescent yellow looks a lot bigger and imposing than one in black when you’re taking a penalty I think
Absolutely agree with that top priority
Haven’t the Drogs got a big goal scoring number 9? Loan?
A very entertaining game, we should have been out of sight in the first 30 minutes with the chances we had. How we didn’t score is beyond me.
We totally dominated the game but found ourselves behind when they scored from a smash and grab raid.
We absolutely battered them after conceding, we could have easily scored if our crossing had been better, Adomah being he main culprit.
Finally, we scored with virtually the last kick of the game, DJ smashed it into the net from close range.
Two good saves from Hornby gave us a comfortable penalty shoot-out win.
This team absolutely never gives up. There’s no shoulders or heads down it’s get on with it and find the winner. Oceans apart from previous seasons.
Just got home after that get of jail win….
We should have been out of sight in the first half and when they got 2 sent off, it just looked a matter of time before we ‘had’ to score - sometimes you can just never predict football can you?
We must have had 30 shots and it just seemed one of those nights - DJ was just getting so frustrated at their keepers antics and when he got himself booked I thought that was it but no, this team is starting to look like it doesn’t know how to lose…. Relief followed by euphoria…
Full credit to Sam for a great performance (few very good saves in the first half and then a penalty masterclass…)
Loved the fact that their lot were singing we are going to Wembley just before our 97th minute equaliser
Fair to play to them though for a fairly decent following in this competition…
UTS - on to Saturday for another big game…
Anyone fancy Vale in the next round?
Double anyone ?
Maybe we have to play Simkin to keep Lowe
Luckily, he’s not a bad goalkeeper but Hornby has shown again how good he is.
Happy to see us progress, it’s a good opportunity to get another day out at Wembley.
I found it frustrating and predictable the last 10 minutes and added time - seemed like the plan was put it wide for Adomah to cross but it didn’t seem to be working.
