And Jack Earing, who’s now gone to Barrow. I’m not sure why we let Earing go - we seem a bit light in midfield, with only Lakin, Comley and Jellis signed up for next season, and Jellis might be sold! If Barrow can keep Earing fit, then they’ve got a decent player that we’ve helped back to fitness!! The least they can do is let us have their manager!!
21 league starts in 3 years
You can’t guess?
Yes, he’s been injury-prone, but if he’s fit now, we could be missing out on a decent option in midfield. If he’s such a risk, why have Barrow signed him? Are you really that confident that we will sign anybody better? I’m not!
Better than what, a player who is hardly available?
So, I take it that you are happy that he’s gone? I just have a nagging feeling that he may actually come back to bite us….and he also seems a decent guy to have around.
Not arsed, good player on his day, but most of his days in the last 2+ seasons have been spent in the medical room. We can’t carry passengers, same with PF.
Every player we release could do that, the same as every player we sign, released by another club could bite them. That’s football.
I’m sure every player at the club is the same, decisions get made and even with Sadler in charge I’d be confident they are based on footballing reasons rather than he is great to have round the dressing room.
Obviously I can understand the decision to release Earing with his injury record. But then we are offering Farq one, right?
If I had to chose one to take a gamble on, I’d have gone with Earing. The one midfielder we had who could control the tempo of the game.
If we’re serious about improving on last season both. Should be up the road pronto.plusJamma
I like Earing, but it doesn’t matter how good you are if you’re constantly injured. People keep telling me we can’t invest or afford players, but want us to carry these passengers.
Barrow haven’t already paid him to sit on his sofa for three years.
My only thought is that we’ve offered him a short term deal with him now fit, knowing that when he plays he’s actually a very good player and stats wise he’s one of the best in the division.
I did read somewhere at the end of the season that he’d been available for selection for a while, so maybe just making sure he’s ready for next season where maybe they manage his minutes more.
I agree, B_S - it does seem a bit perverse to offer the Priest a contract and then release Earing, who played more games last season than he did!
Not arsed about Earing, vastly overrated we need better if we are to get promotion.
Just to rewind. Did you say " Sadler and managing players minutes" in the same sentence
No, never said Sadler
I tend to agree did offer us something different in midfield but I was never overly impressed when we were under the cosh tended to go missing defensively poor went to sleep .don’t think he was that keen to mix it physically since his injuries .often leaves a player hesitant and fearing injury again saw it a bit with Hall in his first spell .but looked a far better confident player 2nd time round .I wish him well in his move to Barrow you can’t play football fearing injury. As you say right decision we can do and will have to do better in that midfield if we’re serious about promotion.
A few Spireites that I know are saying Stirk to Chesterfield is close to done.
Sound. That means the bullying “victim” that attempts to bully others on here. AKA “The Troll” can go and join their forums now.
Did they knock once for close and Twice for done
