I don’t think the silence from the club has helped - if anything, it’s made it worse.
No progression without accountability.
Yes @Thanatos I agree with this as I’ve said previously MS should have done himself a favour by giving us his explanation of exactly what happened after new year and what he and his staff were trying to do about it.
Not that it would appease some of the people on here .
I fully understand what you are saying I don’t particularly agree with it, but I realise it’s the popular (easy) way of thinking .
If Sadler had been sacked would I have been surprised or that bothered, no.
But he hasn’t and I can also understand why hasn’t.
In his time in charge we have improved significantly in both seasons.
However you could argue…. We did significantly improve until January - and then we significantly declined.
Really?
Really what?
Yeah i agree, i dont buy into the statements and such but i really thought they would have made at least a post backing him.
If we aren’t in and around the top 7 by October it’ll be that toxic they’ll have to sack him the fans will turn in a heartbeat after last season some may not like that but its the truth.
I think he’s in some bother if we go (god forbid) 2 goals down against Swindon
Just read an article in the Bromsgrove News (I think) about Harry Williams. This had the rumour of him being linked to Newcastle (!) and said that the reason he was dropped in February is that he had been in talks with St Mirren about a pre-contract. Is it any wonder that our form deteriorated so much when seemingly half the team was being tapped up, and this while we were still top of the league. But of course, it’s all Matt Sadler’s fault!!
That’s pretty well known isn’t it?
Sadler got too clever for his own good and decided to exile a very good player at this level because he thought the club were already over the line.
Should’ve done it in April instead (and given Harry the last game to say goodbye) as would’ve picked up more points in the games in late Feb/March he missed.
Now the injury means he’s probably still going to be around next season so a strange 2025 for him so far.
The fans need to be in charge of the agenda at the forum with Trivela, we don’t want Trivela cherry picking which questions they are prepared to answer. They have obviously told Sadler to keep his head down and don’t answer any questions.
Sadler won’t be there - and I doubt there will be a ‘meet the manager’ this pre season
I think they would call it " find the manager" this year.
I agree with the need for accountability.
I also understand that Sadler is unpopular with a section of the fanbase.
The difficulty is that, after the Accrington game, wasn’t Sadler and his family confronted by an angry supporter when they were getting into their car?
We’ve also heard of managers that have told their family not to attend games.
I want my team to do well and when we have a group of young players, I’m prepared to be patient.
If I see players not putting a shift in, downing tools, cupping their ears to the supporters, they deserve flak, but I don’t see it with Sadler teams.
I loved Dean Keates as a footballer but the bunch of players he assembled were awful. The likes of Ferrier had ability but absolutely no desire to put the effort in when there was a need to ‘dig in’.
Nobody is saying that Sadler is a tactical genius but I look at Notts County’s recent managerial appointment and wonder whether we should consider whether the grass is always greener, or not…
I’ve never seen anyone criticise the team for lack of effort during the season, so the idea players took their foot off the gas wasn’t mirrored in what fans watched. In fact it seemed a fairly consistent view even with poor results that the team were putting the effort in.
If players talking about pre contracts is such an issue why would we entertain the idea of loans, what skin do they have in the game when turning out for us knowing they are going back to their clubs. It’s professional pride at the end of the day, same for any player.
Now that isn’t to say the players don’t shoulder some of the blame, hence why you will be reading posts with views articulating that people aren’t arsed that player X has gone etc.
You’ll also read posts that have questioned and challenged whether Trivela were over their brief in running our club. In fact you will read posts where players, Trivela and Sadler have the finger of blame pointed at them in one post.
Sadler will shoulder a big chunk of the blame, I mean his mistakes were all laid out to see, but to keep coming back to this…
As if it’s what fans are saying is not true in the main and isn’t what I am taking from posts on here.
So he dropped the player not due to his bad form, but because he had the audacity to talk to another club. Great management
To be fair, Williams was one of very few players that kept their standards up.
He was quite within his rights to talk to a Scottish team at that time. Sadler dropping him for so many games was the mistake. Cost us, in my opinion. Also dropped him for McEntee, who no doubt also was talking to other teams. His standards weren’t so high.
Club has history when people talking to other clubs wasn’t Colin Lee dropped for talking to Plymouth although he had permission lol
