A great servant to our club and more than that, he was a superb footballer, belonging to a band of heroes around that time that got me well and truely hooked into Walsall FC.
An excellent footballing career overall. How many ex saddlers have a Premiership winners medal?

Very sad news.
Craig Shakespeare is 11th on the all the time goal scorers list for Walsall which I’d never have guessed and is a measure of his importance to Walsall considering he didn’t even play as an out and out striker.

He was our regular pelanty taker for a few months, and notched a few including a brace against Vale in the Cup, but for most of his time with us he didn’t take them, it was ROK, Christie, Jones or Naughton or whoever who generally took them.
At a rough guess I would say half a dozen, give or take, were from the pelanty spot, the rest were open play or free-kicks.

The minutes applause was magnificent to one of our own taken far too soon. it was a moment to reflect and remember those memories he gave us.
