Cook went into the Walsall dressing room after we’d beat them to congratulate them and wish them well, proper sportsmanship and a decent bloke, I’m sure he’s the sort of bloke you’d wanna play for, Stirk probably agrees.
That’s exactly how I’d describe Stirk. He hid in the big games- he doesn’t have the cojones to boss the midfield - I don’t care that he’s gone.
I was talking to my youngest lad about it earlier. He’s only 12 but he has a really good understanding of the game for his age. He doesn’t always blindly agree with me either, which is great, I want him to have his own opinions.
He said to me “Dad, he was one of the ones that let us down” I can’t disagree.
As I have said, the only concern to me is that we try and replace him properly. As poor as Stirk was at times, Comley showed several times he is far worse.
Would anyone else take Bobby Kamwa back? I’d rather not rely on loans and he did really well at Newport. Quick, versatile and surely we could compete in terms of ambitions and wages. He was at Burton before Newport, so could have DJ’s house!
I would. Although he’s still a downgrade on someone like George Hall. I just hope we don’t underestimate how crucial it is to get the requisite quality sorted for those attacking positions.
Kamwa played around 40 games and scored 9 goals.
I also imagine his wages are less than Hall.
I rated Hall but he barely got enough game time to get up a head of steam.
I would like players that have a track record of staying fit over the course of a season.
For what it’s worth, I think that Gordon, Matt and Adomah all have something to offer- however, only in the last 25 minutes of games.
Give me RAM, Kamwa, Levi and Pressley, along with Jackson Smith and Tyrese Fornah, and I think that gives us a fighting chance, topped up with a few loanees.
It will be interesting to see if Chesterfield improve Stirk’s shooting ability.
41 shots last season - so basically one a game - with 8 of them on target - so basically one shot on target a month!
Scoring 1 goal.
Pretty gruesome stats to be fair.
If he only scores once next season you can bet it will be against us
I’ve never seen a player shoot over the bar as much. Lakin did his best to keep up, but not good enough, he shot a few wide instead.
I’m so glad we have a manager that the players love and a great man manager that non of them want to leave, WHY IS STILL HERE
………with 15 games still to go.
He aye gewin is he Franksie
I know for a fact ‘Stirky’ was a hugely popular member of the ‘group’ as Sads likes to refer to them. He will be missed and ilI think in a side that wants to play a more attractive possession based style of football he has all the tools to be a success. I wish him well.
Like many, he showed how good he could be in the first half of the season and how bad he could be in the second.
Another manifestation of the mismanagement of players’ bodies and minds. It’s dead hard to be “here and there and every focking where” for over forty games.
Biggest most damaging part of the season was Sadlers mismanagement(and there really is no other word for it) of players minutes and rotations. It was crying out for Asiimwe, it was crying out for Chang, it was crying out for Hall and don’t even get me started on Danny Johnson. The best part of it all is…….the managers still here! honestly it’s unreal when you look at the facts which are the form table for the second half of the season and yes ladies and gents we are still in league two because of it
. I’m not sure there would be many people left in a job in any other area of business with performance figures like Mat Sadler has from the second half of the season.
Never a great fan of Stirk, the only thing that scares me now, is Comley is first choice CM.
The same Comley that was arguably our best player 23/24 season?
The only reason he didn’t feature much this season was due to injury and Stirk not doing much wrong. I’d like to sign a dm who can do all the defensive stuff but is willing to make the risky forward pass. Stirk and Comley often win the ball at the half way line and pass side ways.
Stirk didn’t do much wrong?
Which 2 games did you come to?
A bit sassy but I’m season ticket holder in the upper, and was there for the disappointment at Crewe and Wembley.
The most ambitious club in the league with arguably, the best manager in the league has offered him a contract to support there promotion push.
He has only really played consistently for the past two season so you would think it’s based on his performances here.
Is Paul Cook also wrong?
I think Stirk is decent but if we can replace him with someone who is a bit more powerful stronger in the tackle and someone who can drive with the ball to get out of danger I think we will be ok, But is there anyone within our budget who can do that lol
