It’s just different strokes
On the Sat match thread, someone said that Willis had a broken foot which I brought up when it was said why isn’t he playing. Seems he has recovered from that now.
Thanks for clarifying.
A ■■■■ game, with a ■■■■ result, to finish off a ■■■■ year. Good riddance.
Rmemeber we signed Mcloughlin on the morning of an away game, half the fans didn’t know who he was
Along with the chants of “who the ■■■■■■■ hell is that”
He got some stick as well for being a dingle
Wasn’t that Mccarey?
He was decent aswell, but it gives me great joy his career has gone down the pan after his antics for Wolves.
Was that the Preston away game?
Caught the train back to Brum after the game (it was Sunday for some reason IIRC) and saw some bloke on platform in Walsall tracksuit. Assumed it was a fellow fan so was walking over to do a quick thumbs up and quickly realised it was the bloke who’d just played in goal!
Thought he was pretty decent for that month, no idea where he is now. That t**t from Wolves was the worst of the 4 that season, didn’t think much of Darlow either but he’s had a really good career since and doing well in the prem now.
Was trying to remember how it all happened, didn’t Grof get potted about three months into the season after a string of errors?
Oh right this is the one i was thinking of and i don’t even think he was a keeper
Kin hell how old do you think I am
Ian Mcloughlin was on loan from Mk dons I think. Before the Preston game
This one
Grof had some serious disciplinary issues as well being pretty ■■■■ in goal.
Hardly played after going back to Franchise. Went to Newport but hardly played there either.
Then went back to Ireland as career fizzled out.
12/13 one of my favourite seasons tbh, thought football played after xmas that year was better than much of the near promotion season. Once it all clicked with Brandy-Grigg-Paterson it was a joy to watch on counter attack.
The weird thing with the keepers is it went Grof-Darlow-McCarey-McLoughlin-McCarey-Johnstone but Darlow also came back for two games over xmas period, wins over Stevenage and Pompey so I assume the second loan was cut short as it’s pretty odd looking at that. Grof was actually still there faithfully filling the role of carrying out the drinks on the bench.
He got done for drink driving at Hibs.
Thought he showed some potential at back end of 11/12 but didn’t kick on. Looking at the results again reminded me of the Lincoln cup defeat and I think he made bad error in that as McCarey came in for the next match.
Well he liked a drink while he was at Walsall too.
Won the league, only lost 7 games, plus 32 goal diff.
But yeah, weren’t a class above most of that league …
Slightly better on enough days doesn’t equate to “class above”, we won the league with the last kick of the season. To me “class above” you win the league by about 10-20 points and counting.
I mean, if that’s the line we were ten points clear of all but three teams. And the point was we were a class above MOST teams
I’d say 20 sides is a fair amount to be a class above.
And my point is we wern’t.
I went to every game bar 3 that season, we wern’t a “class above” anyone, just a bit better quite often.
But your point was also if you’re ten points clear you’re a class above?
And to most, being consistently a bit better would constitute being a class above, but let’s not pick at that logic loophole too.
