Shrewsbury (H) FL Trophy Tuesday 13 Nov 7pm

Well, time for the Sloppies to visit Fortress Bescot. Avoid motorways from the West so you don’t get caught up in a traffic jam featuring tractors, muck spreaders and six-fingered inbreds.

  • Walsall win
  • Shrewsbury win
  • Draw

Actually looking forward to it as I’m expecting to see our “bench” get a run out, even if it is only against their reserves - although with a few being away on international duty we may need to rope in a few regulars to make a side up (not too bad an issue cosidering we don’t have another game until a week on Saturday).

Hornby
McEntee
Weir
Uncle Albert
Hall
Earing
RAM
Cleary
DJ
Plus 2 more

The Plus 2 - recall Browne and Wragg for the night and play Cleary at LWB?

Don’t get too optimistic for the result Andy, as I’m intending to come to this as a via on the way back home, as we’ve (hopefully) got a midday finish on Tuesday and also even make it for a pre-match Locker pint.

Have they got a new manager yet?

I know Ryan Lowe has been mentioned (good manager, ex-Shrew, available) but I wouldn’t be surprised is Sadler was sounded out on Tuesday.

I also think we have to be canny with George Hall: if he is ‘too good’ before January, there is a far greater likelihood of recall, but if we are ‘patient’ with his amount of playing time, there is a greater possibility of keeping him for the season, I think…

I’m not sure the rules are about how many changes are allowed but I would really like to roll the dice. I would like to see a plan B rolled out, but I’m not sure that’s the MS way
For me let’s try a 4-2-3-1
Hornby in goal
Dave right back Osin and DD with Weir left back
Holding two of three, Stirk Comley and Larkin
The three behind the striker, Uncles on the right, Clearly on the left with Hall behind the striker (Maher for Hall after an hour)
Let’s try DJ as a lone striker meaning we can’t just hoof the ball

But alas this won’t happen

Why? I thought the idea was to have a club system of playing, so 3-5-2 in our case.
Get everybody totally focused on playing their role in that and if we’re changing players for this gamethey get practice in their role on the pitch.

Didn’t think we had been by and large this season, thought we’d been using the midfield and wing backs.

I know it’s just an opinion but I’d say it’s not the above but actually glad this won’t happen. Just can’ see that there’s any gain from it or place in the overall plan. Sure we’ll change formation in certain games if needs arise and I’m sure these changes are practiced but don’t get why you’d want a complete change of set up from the off.

It’s a plan B a chance to see and not a change of identity just in case we need to change things in game, I see it as free hit why not try something “live” not just on the training ground. Especially as we have the players that suit the system. So calm down just a thought or as you say an opinion :+1:

PS the hoof ball comment was more in the fact the tactical danager of one up top is you can tend to go long too early, if we we played Matt that would more likely happen than if we tried DJ it wasn’t a comment on our current playing style

Won’t Dave, DD, and Comley already be off on their intetnational duties (presuming the latter 2 have been called up)?

Not sure but think join up is Wednesday Thursday, but can imagine MS giving them the extra time off
As I said it’s what I would do with the free hit game , if it actually happens I start eating my rather worn Woolly hat

Sadler would be a fool to leave us for Shrewsbury mate! We have a far better squad than them and genuine chance right now of Sadler getting a promotion on his CV.

I agree @Lukeyboy

However, stranger things have happened in the past…

Pretty sure that Ben Boycott has gone on record as saying that the club would try and match financially any offer that comes the manager’s way.

Maybe, under Trivela, the club can build upon solid foundations. Imagine that!

Sadler said after the match on Saturday that Daniels will be unavailable for Tuesday.

We’ll have to play Hornby,
McEntee, Allen and Weir as centre backs.
Uncle Albert , Hall, Earing, Lakin and Maher across the midfield
DJ and Cleary upfront

Is that allowed under the rules?
6 of the starting X1 played part of the match on Saturday altho’ only 2 started.

Rico Browne recalled

That’s him starting tomorrow then

Back three of Browne - McEntee - Weir

Unless Weir is used at LWB?

He might be called up by St. Kitts according to MS. I reckon Okagbue might play before joining up for Eire.

That is Cayden Bennett, no?

I thought he meant Rico Browne but perhaps I didn’t listen closely enough.

Rico played for their U17s at age 15, but doesn’t appear to have featured since then (although he is still only 20). Cayden got called up for their full team only a few months ago.

So either (or even both) is possible but chances are it’s just Cayden in with a chance - unless Rico’s stint at Tamworth has caught a few eyes?
