Any early news on Knowles?
I would agree, one pre-season ‘swallow’ with a decent set of results in friendly games and a few positive signings, doesn’t make a definite promotion ‘summer’, and I think it is perfectly reasonable for fans to be cautious and not get too excited, especially if we do a Hartlepool at Morecambe next week, as you never know what is round the corner in football.
I guess it’s okay to be positive and optimistic if you want to though, and I guess that’s what makes this UTS forum as well as this world we live in go round - we all have different viewpoints and opinions, which most people on here advocate a lot of the time. We just need to accept that of everyone so no-one is dismissed, either way.
It seems like the majority think we’ll be a mid table team this season, which seems logical and understandably cautious, although there are a few who think we are top 7 contenders and then a few who think we might be bottom 6 and looking over our shoulder, particularly if one or two injuries to key players hit us. Don’t you just love (or hate!) football!
I’d agree it’s logical. And realistic.
Couple of weeks out apparently
What would you say it is ‘realistic’ based on? Just a cautious approach to how we do, or simply based on a number of factors, e.g. players we’ve signed, our history in league 2, our new and inexperienced manager?
Therefore, what makes it realistic to think that Wrexham, Notts, Gills, Stockport etc will be nearer the top or that Crawley, Newport or Morecambe will be near the bottom?
23 Wins and 10 draws away from promotion. I’m a believer, drink the cool and buy the hot dog were this years Orient

Was that the season your nanny had a more embarrassing avatar than you ? Whatever did happen to that “idyut” as folk say whilst watching farmers league footy.
Knowles was at the match standing on the touchline before the game, and after the warm-up each player went up to him, most gave him a big hug and seemed to be expressing genuine sympathy. Made me think that it could be more than a couple of weeks.
I hope not Bernie we really don’t want another season blighted by injuries.
I haven’t paid enough attention to those other clubs to tell you whether the predictions for those clubs are realistic, in my view, or not.
I’m basing it on what I know the levels are of this league, and comparative to sides we’ve put together previously, and the reputation of the players brought in. Indeed a lot of them were here last season at one point or another and at no point did we realistically look like a play off team. Indeed a flirtation with the top half was as good as it got.
Before people whinge about what is ostensibly my reading of what you can realistically expect from this side it’s not all bad:
I can’t stress enough how highly I rate Farquharson. I rated Monthe highly too so I can’t say I see it as a huge upgrade, but at worst we’ve replaced one very good league two centre half, with another.
I’m genuinely astounded Tierney has come here on loan. I’d have expected him to get game time this season at his club and I think that’s a massive coup (and the real upgrade on the midfield people think Stirk is).
Hutchinson looked like he had all the potential in the world at this level last season, and looks very sharp in preseason.
Is that enough to overcome a defence that, quality wise, looks similar to last season (without a quality RWB as it stands), and a strike force that looks incredibly similar to the one that began last season? Hopefully!
That’s a blocking. Weirdly following me around the site to provoke a reaction.

Matt and DJT look like DJT and Williams last season we had DJ for half of last season Oteh has been better playing out wide from what i know Draper seems to be a good signing but if he does turn out well he will be gone in January either back to Lincoln or sold by them. Still think there isnt enough goals in this team and we definitely need a right wing back and a good one.
I like it when you’re optimistic, @el_nombre
My prediction would be mid table honestly, but if you were to ask me “if we don’t finish mid table, do you think it’s more realistic we will finish top half or bottom half?” I’d say top at a push. A real push, mind.
To be fair your avatar is embarrassing though.
You have gone out your way to put an x (or anti whatever you think is funny) on a guy who gave everything for this club. Regardless of your opinion on his ability. It says a lot about you to be honest.
Christ almighty. Lighten up.
I guess it’s 2023, and people are triggered by display pics now.
What a boring comment to make. Sense of humour bypass.
I was going to take it down today (replier to a a few posters earlier who found it funny on DM) - as it was obviously a laugh - but now I’m going to keep it. Thanks for that one
Nope, nope and errrrrmmmm nope.
Triggered
Its just completely pathetic, nothing funny about it.
The only thing that needs to “lighten up” is the bulb between your lugs.
Liam Kinsella was a great servant to Walsall FC irrespective of anyone’s opinion of his ability, and only a total dullard would put up an avatar disrespecting someone that always gave 100 percent and was at the club for almost 20 years. Grow up, yo’m supposed to be clever.
What? Very occasionally responding to the utter tripe you post more like.
Still “blocking”, always so much easier than admitting you were wrong…again, as predicted.

Given people being offended by a tiny display pic, and have absolutely no sense of humour.
I have decided to change my display pic to a Chinchilla with a cross on it. I hope this doesn’t upset anyone!
I hope you all get through this
How about we turn this thread into a load of puns, because that’s absolutely hilarious
