Southampton - sold out?

If you do opt for the train, because it’s Cross Country, it’s expensive, but investigate getting a friends and family railcard to cut the cost, there’s big savings to be had. Visit the railcard website.
Then split your ticket to make even more savings. It’s a hangover from nationalisation when BR regions priced fares differently. You can benefit by buying tickets for different parts of the journey but staying on the same train. Visit a ticket split website and see how much you’ll save

This is the supporters club they hire coaches from is it Birmingham International in Birmingham and they don’t have any more coaches available possibly because the rest are being used by Birmingham City supporters ?

Well that says it all! We only have access to one coach company.
Coaches can be hired from several companies in the West Mids, but clearly our club doesn’t know how to go about booking them!!
Royston Randle would be turning in his grave!
The place is a shambles, and they simply don’t deserve our support. (Rant over!!).

I don’t know, 2k is possible as I assume it’s still a Sat 3pm unless it’s been moved because some people in the Far East want to watch it.

Up to last season they’ve been a prem club for a decade, it’s a decent ground and away trip and some going will still have fond memories of May 2011 which turned out to be a party for both sets of fans.

Not sure where the General is based but an ex of mine used to go to Southampton Uni so I know the train route quite well…

The key to breaking the journey is to get a Banbury to Basingstoke return. Because GWR share that route it’s surprisingly only about 16 quid. Think Banbury to Coventry/Birmingham international is about 15 quid (same from Solihull on the chiltern line) and then Basingstoke to Southampton is a further tenner.

So with a few splits you can do it for around 40 quid return and that’s without any railcards.

Will have a look on the trainline website tonight as of course the fares usually go up 3-4% every new year.

Edit: Actually just typed in bog standard Coventry to Southampton return for Sat 6th Jan and it comes up as £97 so you can significantly save more than that with a few splits on the route.

Love your optimism!!
Those actually going there must be masochists, just watched them on the EFL highlights programme…
frightening…

1500 it is then.

Was it the travelling that finished it ?

Yes: Just looked at the train split site. It suggests four splits, making the return fare £58 - almost half price: Walsall to Banbury, Banbury to Basingstoke, Basingstoke to Winchester, Winchester to Southampton.

If there are six travelling (3 adults and 3 kids?) the total price with a railcard would be around £160 for all six. The benefit of the Railcard is that it lasts a year and could be used for travel to Wembley for the Semi AND the Final

The club does not deserve us

Thank you for all the information

Except that isn’t this the Supporters Club Travel Section run by volunteer fellow fans (that Royston used to lead), and not by the club themselves who haven’t run any coaches themselves for years in favour of the SCTS?

ISSA also run coaches and at least one other independent provider run by fans. No idea how many they are laying on, or how many different coach operators they have access to.

Absolutely incredible support, I thought we would get to 1,500 but at this rate could be as many as 2,000. Hopefully Southampton will be impressed with our gate, promises to be a fantastic day out.

When we played Southampton last game of the season when we stayed up and they were promoted, me and my wife stayed down there for the weekend. We were in a Chinese on the night and there were a load of Southampton fans in getting a bit rowdy. We had a chat with some of them and they said we were the best supporters they had there all season.

It’s really a free hit for us. I am more concerned about Grimsby on Monday. Just hope we have something left in the tank after yesterday. A draw would do for me.
