Absolutely delighted with the performance today but i would make one change I’d bring Earing in for Lakin Jack is a very good player for us when he’s fit and firing

I don’t know what to say other than what has already been said. Up the top of the league Saddlers! A complete performance today.

Fans were brilliant too.

The kids loved it, I loved it. More of that, please.

Has anyone found the correct match stats yet? Apart from the zero possession and passes balls up, both Sky and BBC show us as only having 8 shots with 5 of them on target (4 in the back of the net) - yet I recall that Flash had 2 attempts that the keeper had to save, as he did with the late Lakin effort, plus Uncle Albert had at least 2 other shots off target (as again did Lakin), and there were probably others I can’t bring to mind. So as a minimum it should be 11 and 7.

Proud of this team.

Top class centre half at our level.

We have got a couple of half decent strikers.
Jamma, Flash and DJ would get into virtually every squad in this league, absolutely not saying we don’t need more options upfront but there is absolutely no point in signing a “striker” just for the sake of it.
And also DJT will probably be recalled in January and tbf to him he’s done everything anyone could ask.

That’s a great post , the only thing I would say is why would you be so critical of the manager, and by the way you are not on your own in that.
I’ve always said he’s definitely no worse than than the previous two higher profile managers , and along with the rest of his staff has managed to get a really great team spirit, which is absolutely crucial if we are to progress.

You won’t hear anything till we lose,
Then
Sadler out
Trivella out
Any player who isn’t performing to his profile on Football Manager, out.
The SLO (New club secretary I believe) Out .
The bloke who does the plumbing at the ground Out .
I could go on but I think you probably get the gist of what I’m trying to say.
Let’s just give it a chance even when we have a bad spell which we inevitably will,

Extended Highlights - might not play in UTS so might have to open through youtube

Not that it’s the be all and end all … but possession (or territory) in your favour helps the management of the game. Wether chasing or leading.

Top post, thats what its about, the kids enjoying it and having a memorable day. Let’s face it they ay had much to enjoy in their time. Lets hope we give them something to chear this season UTS

Reflecting on the game, one thought I had was how the policy of continuity has helped us start the season well. The players know and get on, while the two teams we played in the league had massive turnovers in the close season.

Another thing was that, while it does not need saying that we need more people up front, the people we have are good players, including DJ. They will still play a major part even with new blood coming in.

We cannot get carried away after 3 games, including the Cup, but we have a good squad - in fact, another point from yesterday was how we were able to bring on subs that did not really weaken the side. Adomah, Earing and even Maher fitted in well. But the strongest reasons for optimism are the defence and the team spirit.

Fingers crossed but let’s give Mat and the coaching staff some leeway.

On that point, anyone seen Gensanx recently?

It will be interesting to see how Sadler will handle the club captain coming back into the fold…

This is the best back 3 - Allen and McEntee are perfect outside centre halfs.

Will he bring DD back in if it’s all going well?

DD won’t be the first club captain to not get back into a side playing well and he certainly won’t be the last. But on current form, unfortunately I can’t see a way in. I know @CompletelySaddled said before as CC, DD will always get back into the side but time will tell.

What I will say is, there is still a lot of football to be played between now and when DD will be fit enough to play/start, so maybe it’s better to discuss it at the time.

Everyone knows we’ve had a good start, but we also know how quickly that can change. There could also be injuries which might make his inclusion easier when the time comes.

Thanks for that.

He impressed me in pre season and could see his class with some of his play. But you’re right he hasn’t shone yet.

But let’s spin it, we just beat Swindon convincingly away and one of our marquee signings hasn’t even got going yet!

Once he starts kicking on we will hopefully have another level to our play! :crossed_fingers:

What a great day yesterday was btw! Those saying let’s not get carries away- bugger it, days like yesterday are there to be enjoyed as they’re few and far between being a saddler! Main thing is to be disappointed when we lose but remember there’s always another game to put it right!
