Probably needed to charge the extra to pay for the naming rights to Jimmy.
I can’t see how the main benefit of the membership was saving entry to the locker, when the locker wasn’t even open when the membership system came in (if I remember rightly)
Regardless, I don’t agree with £5 it is just too much and is the definition of ripping off football fans. Yes you can drink in other places at the ground, but I still don’t agree with it. I don’t even drink anymore, I just don’t agree with football fans being ripped off.
Although The Locker had yet to open at the time it was already mentioned in the membership conditions there would be free entry to the “supporters club”.
No I don’t remember either. But for me it was a big incentive as I live miles away so can’t get to that many games, usually Tuesday night games and Cup games as that fits around my work. So that’s usually 6-10 games a year. Meaning that when I do it’s now handier to park up on the Fullbrook and meet up with mates in the Locker, as opposed to having a pub pint and then driving to the ground.
So on that basis £30 quid will save me a bit on the entry over the season, so I’m feeling a bit ripped off that they’ve reduced the entry after I’ve bought in already. Ok there are other benefits but that’s the personal gripe, apart from zero correspondence about collecting my membership stuff/card or whatever as yet from the club. Hopefully resolve that Monday as I’m goimg to the Exeter game on Tuesday!
Regarding whether it’s ripping off the fans I don’t think a fiver is OTT, wasn’t it £2 when it closed, years ago (10 or more years now) inflation over that time easily gets you up to a fiver. I’m with @Belphegor they’ve got it wrong and reduced the price unnecessarily.
Anyway we’ve had this before regarding the entry, and it’s not worth arguing over especially as we’re off to a good start. Have a good Saturday, the mrs has started getting glammed up for the gig in town so i’d better get my act together.
I’m not arguing, it’s just my opinion. I think a fiver means more to me now than it probably did before, so that is a contributing factor maybe.
I can understand you might be a bit pissed off, I didn’t agree with the price in the first place but I am surprised they put it down now, especially as you say people had bought memberships on the strength of it.
A fiver to get in is ridiculous. Same price as Yhe Cavern. Hardly the same experience. You don’t even pay to go in most nightclubs these days never mind a bar for an hour before kick off.
Not surprised crowds have gone up now it’s more reasonable. Hopefully they reprice the beer next.
I’m only going on what was said earlier about it being rammed and six deep at the bar. You get to the point where you actually sell less because you can’t service the demand.
Next time I’m over, I’ll be at The Railway / Blue Pop bar if it means I can have a beer without having to queue for 20 mins. I stopped going in the Saddlers club for the same reason.
It was packed for a few minutes today but I agree that reducing the admission to £2 is likely to bring a lot more in during the season. However I had a decent pint and watched the end of the Leeds-Portsmouth game.

I stopped going in the Saddlers club for the same reason.
[/quote]I heard they barred you
Ssshhh.
We don’t need to go there
Can’t understand it one of the very few supporters who would take a Bulleit for the club
Very good
Season ticket holders and members free.
£2/3 for the rest fair enough
As I remember it used to be £2 to get in the Saddlers club years ago if you weren’t a member.
So £2 now seems pretty reasonable to me.
,
Anyone on here using the blue pop bar before the game? If I couldn’t get to Walsall earlier enough to nip down The Railway, I’d go in there before the game for a swift half, then after the game to catch up with a few fellow fans.
Never a bother getting served.
Question is, why queue in the locker?
I don’t usually bother these days but I will come a bit early and have a pint with you when you are here if you let me know.
Looked a fair few in there when I got in the ground about 2.35 today.
That would be great Mark. I’d like to meet your boys. They weren’t coming last time we had a beer.
@Belphegor because it was busy and also in the away section,
In my head that’s a good thing, and obviously as normal it wasn’t that bad unless you think you should be able to just walk up the bar and get served immediately , it peaked around 2 o’clock then 20 mins later it was fine.
Thanks S1
I’ve been in there twice. Nowt to write home about. I like the company / atmosphere in The Railway and the convenience / service in the blue pop bar.
If it’s busy, I’ll not use it tbh, I’ll probably use one of the other two. Hate queuing for beer.
Yeah, life was a lot simpler then. I wouldn’t change it for the world though. They make me proud the way they stick with Walsall, through let’s be fair some tough times. I know their grandad would be very proud too.
Let me know and I’ll get there earlier for a beer with you.
