The Mat Sadler Thread

I don’t have a problem with @CompletelySaddled - I enjoyed last night. The cut and thrust of debate - that’s the whole point of a football message board. Long May it continue.

I’m a supporter, CS is a supporter - we have different opinions on the same topic. We are both qualified in terms of being supporters. I don’t think anyone really needs to justify themselves in having an opinion.

I agree with most of CS’s posts, and I just differ on the positivity around Sadler. I don’t see any evidence for it; but happy to be shown otherwise if we do turn it around. I think that’s the crux of it all.

Forest Green are crap though

All your posts… :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

As my gran always used to say, in different times: if ifs and ands were pots and pans there’d be no need for tinkers.

But it’s okay for our fans to call our own team crap?:rofl: Strange logic!

This has been such a tough read.

Apparently now you can only claim that we should win a game if you put a disclaimer in that you’re not taking it too lightly and that we still understand the threats they pose.

Bloody hell, we’re just fans claiming whether we should win or not… we’re not on the training ground.

It’s ok for me to call my wife ugly……but it’s completely disrespectful and likely to get you a punch on the nose if you call her it……:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I reckon you’d list loads of stats as to why she’s not, compared to the average woman.

Found the issue here Dan, don’t do it, you’ll go blind, a peep or a glance is sufficient…

You are very good at presenting facts that suit your argument, but also very good at ignoring statistics that do not.

Flynn had a very poor win average of just 31% when he was sacked. Sadler has a win average of 27%

Why not just admit that Sadler has not a good start to his time as manager here? You had great hopes for him, but so far they have not been realised.

I happen to agree with you that it would be foolish to sack him, but that is because I think that it possible that Sadler could learn from his mistakes, and also because I have no faith that the same people who appointed him would get it right the next time.

And you are very good at clipping a quote so as to avoid the context and subjective opinion that makes it my own post and not just a collection of facts that you think suits my argument…

Such as…

Below you’ve also proved yourself capable of doing exactly what you accuse me of which is using a stat that gives no context to the point you’re making….

Such as….

Sadlers win % this early in his career can change dramatically with just a couple of wins…just like someone playing 8/8 passes at 100% can misplace the next two and it’s immediately 75%….the smaller the sample size the larger the % change….

Because I’m of the camp that believes things should be process driven (I’m a coach and worked in development of players) whereas most fans pay their money and are outcome driven….right now….this Saturday!!(or last!!)

Thats fine and I appreciate that but it would be nice sometimes for someone to have an appreciation of where I come from - even if not agreeing with it.

So I believe there are some good signs and I think that although we should have more points and I’d like to have seen us win a few more games, I think we’re heading in a better direction than we were under Flynn.

Me?

While im doing that look up how many times I ‘like’ someone else’s posts or offer the phrase ‘I agree’ into my posts.

I’m as willing to read and listen to other people’s posts as anyone, if not more.

But if you think I’m an outlier on here in terms of my opinions just read what I just said……

I’m a coach who worked in development of players so I think and consider a process driven approach……how many of those are there on here…6-10? Then ask how many football fans are on here who naturally are mainly interested in the result Saturday……100s

So it’s perfectly normal for many more people to not understand where I’m coming from…than those that do….i accept that and I understand that…all I ask is now and again could some people open their minds a bit and see if you can understand where my opinion is driven from….

Honestly without that a forum doesn’t really exist.

The thing is, you don’t need to write that directly, it comes through in a lot of your posts anyway.

You often tell posters they don’t understand professional football and then expect them to anyway within a debate with you.

Me personally, I don’t care about being MR knowledge when it comes to football, especially regarding Walsall. Walsall F.C means a lot more to me than that, as I know it does for many others who post on here.

100% in agreement with that.

Dan G. You forgot to lay the excuses out in terms of us not winning the fgr game by the other team being ‘well coached’

The implication being we have the best coach going but are not well coached lol

Work that one out :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Good. But it would be easier for all concerned especially those where reading a long post is too much for them, if I could say it more succinctly :+1:

No I don’t. I may tell posters that they dont understand the point I’m trying to make. And I could live with that if they just tried or at least refrained from insulting me simply because they didn’t understand it.

Me too. I’m just expressing my opinion. It just seems if you have an opinion that encompasses a lot of detail you’re disliked more

I genuinely think through all these 100s of essays and tellings off. He’s now completely lost the plot!!!.

I think you should keep putting your opinions, and the reasons for your opinions, on here. There are plenty of us who can see that you have some background knowledge of the game and its inner workings, and appreciate the views you put across. It doesn’t mean I always agree.

On the other hand, I do think you should pick the people you get involved in prolonged discussions with. Some of them are just not worth it. They, generally, offer pretty uninformed, unintelligent and irrational views and it’s just a waste of your time. Less is more sometimes

Your a better man than the rest of us of you can take the time out of your day to read it all.

One of the truest statements you’ve ever posted on UTS, I’d reckon
