I actually looked into him last week. Picked up an injury in March which cut short his season, but would certainly be a good signing for anyone at this level.
Wrexham?
Agree entirely. A marquee signing which would certainly shift tickets and generate alot of interest. Could easily get you 25 plus goals.
Come on Benjamin push the boat out
If we’re chucking names of players into the hat, if we need a quality midfielder, I’ll suggest Cameron McGeehan.
Experienced, 340 career appearances, out of contract and scored 9 goals from midfield in a god awful Colchester side.
Would certainly be an upgrade over someone like Tierney.
Saw him in Stafford last weekend with his kids so I’d imagine he’s based local.
He lives in Stafford since his time at Stoke I was told. Saw him a fair few times over Birches Valley mountain biking with his family.
Mmm…35 in October, hardly played at all last season, played midfield and hardly scored the season before. Isn’t this just the type of signing people are moaning about?
One appearance at Bescot and three goals, that’s the sort of goalscoring record we need.
He’d be a very interesting signing for any team at this level assuming he is fit.
Give me Faal any day of the week over Gayle.
Goodness me, I’d rather have Josh Gordon.
Gayle probably has 10 games left in him, in professional football.
Wages would also be silly.
After all of our injuries last season, we need players who can stay fit and strong over a long, tough season.
Spot on.
We haven’t had much joy from players in the veteran stage of their career for years.
The likes of Peter Clarke, Tomlin, etc haven’t made much impact.
Rather have gone for gayle than another season of jamille Matt…
I think we’ve been burnt badly in recent seasons with players in the latter stages of their career
Ward,Clarke, Hussey, Guthrie
So I think any such signing has to be really considered carefully if Walsall proceed to do so this summer. None of this ‘ I chose Walsall so I can easily get to university’ type stuff that Hussey said when he signed.
Having said that, Brighton have had some joy signing players at the end of their career (Lallana, Milner) so using them as a guide of intelligent transfers, if the right person is out there it may be ok.
Also style wise isn’t Gayle similar to DJ.
So whilst there is still questions to see if DJ stays or goes, what is the logic of getting an older player on higher wages just because he was better five years ago. Might as well tell DJ he is staying
MK Dons have signed Crewe defender Luke Offord.
Presumably they were the only club that could offord him.
Would hope we’d finish above Crewe next season as they have lost key players.
Callum Johnson gone to Bradford, The club need to step up their act.
Yes, certainly seems you can class Chesterfield, Gillingham, Bradford, Mk Dons and Wimbledon who look like they are serious about promotion based on transfers so far.
That’s what frustrates me, I can understand we don’t need a huge deal of players, but the quality players, the players that can be the difference in promotion or another season of dross, get snapped up early. Once again it feels like we’re starting a 100m race, 50m behind.
I’m not sure I agree.
Who knows whether we already have signings lined up.
None of the players I would like us to sign have found clubs yet.
None of our released players have signed for clubs yet (although I expect the Jackson Smith move to Shrewsbury to be confirmed before too long).
There is plenty of time before we need to start getting frustrated with the club, in my opinion.
Just one really nice signing to get us going would be good, usually the first couple of players in give you an indication of how ambitious the signings will be over the summer.
Hopefully something soon
