Lets see how ambitious Trivela really are if they are they’ll sign some proven quality and not rely on loans and cast offs that may or may not work that’s what we usually do being completely honest sometimes it works like it has for Crawley but it’s a big risk.
Patching is a midfielder
Just patching over the cracks IMHO
Are we looking to Add to midfield or replace Hutch ???
If true that looks like a replacement to me.
Not a patch on other people available
Rumours Are Walsall Have An Interest in Shane Mcloughlin of Newport county he still Has A Year remaining on his Contract and plays as RWB or CM was previoisly at Morecambe
I’d be very happy with that signing, got the right profile. Good experience, in the peak years of his career, wages shouldn’t be an issue and from the Bronx so as tough as they come.
You jest surely! The club had better LOL at any club offering such a minuscule amount. He’s scored15 goals with as many assists from midfield. Yes he’s inconsistent most footballers are.
Sorry mate, 200K is a joke. I’m tired of us selling good players on the cheap. May those days be long gone.
It would be a bonus if we could keep hutch but whatever happens over the coming weeks I don’t think Trivela are going to prove as naive as the old regime.
He’s a league 2 footballer, inconsistent, unproven at a higher level and with only 12 months on his contract. Maybe 200k is low but no way would any club pay say more than 300k ish based on those circumstances
30 games for Southend in League 1 and captained a Derby side in League 1 before leaving due to Derby having financial trouble.
Has played three consecutive seasons playing in League 2, playing over 8000 minutes over 111 league games, now getting double figures in goals and assists.
We’d be silly to be looking at anywhere near 200k for him.
Neither do I, but they need to weigh up the pros and cons. How much is promotion (I say that very loosely) worth to the club?
If they have a figure in mind, will they stick to that and risk him moving on next summer for nothing? I’d say he have an increased chance or promotion next season with him in the team, rather than him leaving.
I think a ballpark figure of a quarter of a million will be enough to force our hand, especially as he will be in the final 12 months of his deal.
Having only 12 months on his contract is the key thing. If he had say 3 years that would be totally different and command a much higher fee. We are vulnerable now to clubs waiting until January and then picking him up for virtually nothing
Another factor to consider is was there a release clause in his last contract if so at what level.
Also have we offered him a contract extension, what was his and agents reaction, this could indicate what way Trivela need to jump imho
Whatever we as club may want as regard Hutch or any club interested in signing him , the player has a contract and he will ultimately decide his future in his own interests when good and ready .none of us are party to that probably only him his agent and possibly Walsall fc .some seem to give the impression its entirely down to us what his future is .hes not a used car we can just decide we want to sell. He might very well have decided to see his 12 months out here and negotiate himself a nice little signing on fee …I personally hope he stays has a great season for us and gets us promoted.then we can approach him as regards offering a new contract .
Wonder where Dwight Gayle will end up. And no I’m not saying we could afford to sign him but he’s likely to end up in League 1 or 2 having just been released from a League 1 club
As much as I love the Hutch and I think often he gets an unfair rap on here, he is comfortably our best player but to play devils advocate he can be inconsistent and guilty of going missing in games. Given his quality despite his raw stats being good in goals and assists I do think he has a habit of going missing in games sometimes. Realistically for the transfer fee we are talking about it would be a top L1 club/lower championship club spending that sort of money, ands he’s not yet proven at that level and available for nothing this time next year. To that extent I’d be shocked if we could get anything like half a million for him. I’d expect bids in the range of 250k and given our aim to continue to progress and no obvious successor within the squad currently I am not sure how much the quarter of a million will really benefit us with the aim of play-offs/promotion next season. It’s not just the raw pounds and pennies we receive for him, it’s how we best invest it to improve us bearing in mind we are losing our best player so effectively immediately actually taking a step back.
In the pictures of the new pitch there is a face. I think its Milan or someone with a beard
I think he goes missing in games where the opposition have the ball for 70/75% of a game where the balls in play for 52 mins and we’re giving it away on every 2nd pass….
