He was probably the greatest disappointment of recent signings. He seemed a likeable chap, too, but he never really managed to have any sort of run in the team. Maybe it shows just how hard it is to come back successfully from a long term injury. But I am glad he has found somewhere.
About right! He was such a disappointment - probably up there with one of the most underwhelming signings of recent seasons. I had such high hopes for him, but I can’t remember one good game he had in 2 seasons!
Chris Beech was manager when he was at Carlisle I think wasn’t he
I agree with you on Joe Riley @el_nombre
He seemed like a good egg in the dressing room and realised that just because he was injured, it didn’t mean that he couldn’t contribute to the group, even if he couldn’t play.
Ironically, DJ seems to have conducted himself okay, in terms of fulfilling club commitments, but the rumours are that his nose was knocked out of joint a little (metaphorically speaking) by the young buck, Freddie Draper.
I also heard (probably on here!) that Adegboyega reacted badly to getting dropped when Donervon returned.
This bring me back to Nolan. I agree that Clarke was demonstrative and maybe a bit curt, but Nolan pretty much admitted that he threw his toys out of the pram when he got dropped.
If I publicly show acts of defiance against my employer, that’s insubordination and a dismissible offence.
I’m all for passion and young players being given the benefit of the doubt, but there has to be a bigger picture. Listen to how many times, Sadler uses the word ‘group’.
Whether we like it or not, this is not going to change any time soon (and for what it’s worth, I agree with a firm stance if a manager has been called out in front of the whole dressing room).
Why he dropped Adegboyega when we were in with a shout was beyond me.I though he must be injured.
Big mistake by Sadler.
Yep discussing season ticket sales so far
Joe Riley another outstanding success achieved by Walsall fc in the transition of a professional footballer to the lower leagues nobody comes close to us in this regard
As would I. He shouldn’t have been the one to make way (although I’m not entirely sure that lines up)
But it’s not public is it? It’s behind closed doors for a start and both as an employee and what I want as a boss, I’d much rather be honest and employees be honest with me about what they do or do not think is good or bad. I might not agree, but much more useful than an arse licker.
That’s before we get to the fact is was Clarke acting like a dick in public, not Nolan. And it probably cost us what was now clearly a very good prospect.
As for it always has been and always will be the case, Bruno Fernandes recently called out the ambition of the entire club, never mind the manager in a public article. I doubt his manager will drop him to the reserves next season. Why? Because he recognises his talent. There’s tons of story’s about players being unhappy with managers and their decisions, and it not being “insubordination” or “dismissal”
Dont know much about these younger players just released by Villa, but a couple might be worth a look?
Is that a
Westie …
No @WestieJack rumours yet ! the goat of rumours ! Gutted
To be honest I’ve seen him play a couple of times and his goalkeeping was average tbh but his distribution was exceptional for the level would be happy to see him here
O.k scrap the Adebayo comment…Liam Roberts.
Was derided and dropped in the 18/19 run in and then I think the next season his level was probably seen as similar as Evans this season. Made some excellent saves but would also tend to dive in instalments and let in cheap low shots.
He needed to get away from here with the pressure of being a local lad and now he’s a top end league one keeper who’ll likely be a first choice in the championship in next few years.
That obviously wasn’t his level five years ago so players sometimes aren’t quite ready even if the demand is there from the fanbase, I’d say Nolan wasn’t ready when he was here and now he obviously is.
He was only 19 in the whole of 20/21 season. I think aswell there was just a general losing culture around the club in those times so plenty won’t thrive in that environment. DC also seems to be a bit marmite in his approach but clearly doesn’t do his prospects any harm given he keeps getting league one jobs. Wes was also doing o.k in those times so was ahead in the pecking order.
I get it wrong aswell on players sometimes. Again would’ve laughed anyone out of Bescot if they’d said in 2019 that Dan Scarr would be a championship regular in a few years and he is and fair play to him.
Not to worried about the statement about loan players as it will always be the the way at this level and a lot of the time the wages are partly paid by the players team.
However from what I have seen from last season we would be well short of a promotion push unless we sign quality over quantity with 3or4 coming in permanently to give us a bit of belief in the owners intentions for this season.
I’m still not seeing the relevance to be honest. L Roberts wasn’t called out by his manager in public and again was also praised during his time.
A young player was mistreated by both management and a select few fans at a ridiculously young age, and has since gone on to prove the point. It’s that simple.
Only name I recognise is Dylan Mitchell, who I think got Player of the Season for Alvechurch despite only being there for half of it.
Would be nice to have a bit of success building our own team instead of having relying on others
