Same here. My understanding is there is nothing firm on the table.
But if you say he has with enough conviction people are reluctant to challenge you

Nice guy and worked hard but awful footballer . At lot more his level at fgr and we need to do better to get promoted . Good all around and good luck Tom
Yep.
Was told that just before the end of the season they were going to offer him a new deal, then they changed their minds and Foulkes/Knowles were never offered anything firm.
Last game of the season where Foulkes was changed off the bench an hour before kick off, there was no injury or nothing. That tells you everything you need to know really.
In a way, it’s good that we’re going in a different direction to these players. To be better, we need better.
Expecting this next.
We can confirm that Jackson Smith will join Shrewsbury Town when his contract expires on June 30th Thank you for your efforts Jackson and best of luck in your new challenge
In terms of his footballing ability I’m glad he’s gone to be honest. Nice guy but no end product. Hope he does well at FGR and wish him well.
Oh no @Killer78 said no thank you!
He was always Leaving Tommy Knowles
I am sorry to see him go.He wasn’t as bad as some of you make out and we certainly missed him when he was injured. His pace got us the pitch quickly which was an an asset but I agree we can do better.I personally would change the system and go 4 at the back so a good right back who can defend would be my choice.
That’s not what the club said it was only Smith who had an offer
The right decision for both parties imo. Definitely wasn’t suited to the wing back role and Tom’s final ball wasn’t good enough ultimately. Worked very hard like most of the team but if we want to be better we NEED better players in key positions. Bigger rebuild than first thought then!!
I feel quite conflicted about Knowles leaving as he has definitely warmed to a lot of the fanbase with his character and personality. I also feel like Sadler and the club did him a disservice by playing him out of position. I feel like he has actually performed relatively well in that position and we missed him late in the season when he became injured.
However, if you remove the sentiment of his effort, tenacity and the love and affinity that he shows for the badge, his end product and ability in the final third hasn’t been anywhere near good enough over the duration of his time with us.
It is sad and regretful to see a player leave that plays for and wears the badge with pride but I will ultimately reserve any judgement until we find out who his replacement will be.
We went out and paid a fee for Knowles when we played a formation that didn’t really have a position he could excel in. That says more about our recruitment at the time than anything. Then he was turned into a wingback, which was never his position.
Good luck to the bloke, no one can say he didn’t give his all for Walsall and there were some good moments. If we are genuinely serious about promotion, we need better. Let’s hope that happens.
I am sad to see him go. Definitely not a wing back but you get the feeling he would even have played in goal if the manager asked him to. A great servant to the club and when he was out the side was poorer for it. Bought bags of energy and was obviously a good character in the dressing room. I had hoped we would keep him but use him this year in a more attacking role.
No excuses now though, Sadler needs to get in a replacement that has Tom’s energy and commitment but can also cross and tackle !
Let’s hope this is the end of the experimental RWB situation and we sign one that has an end product. It’s poor form that we haven’t as to yet when we play in the formation we do.
It wouldn’t surprise me if we go in for Joel Senior from Morecambe, with the Ben Sadler links.
He’ll probably sign Milan and play him there
Definition of a “try hard”.
Tried hard to be a professional footballer, had carried off some of the attributes of elite players, especially in the lying down and moaning at officials stakes. Always good for a “thumbs up” when Daniels failed to find him by twenty yards with a cross field ball and very good at apologising with either or even both hands when he shanked another cross behind for a goal kick.
Nice lad. File under alongside Richard Taundry in the “players I’d have loved to have been better because their effort was superb” drawer.
Knowles and a few others were in the “stay up” rather than “go up” category. A below average fourth division player. So I’m ok provided we upgrade when replacing.
Then why would the club say there are ongoing negotiations? That doesn’t happen without an offer you’d imagine, or it’s not much of a conversation.
