The Official Summer No Transfer Rumours Thread 2024/25

Says discussions were ongoing, not that anything was offered.

About what, the weather?

He was more tantalising than your usual mediocrity. He promised more than they do, even if he didn’t often deliver. If he does come good, which I think would be him realising he needs to play more with his head, he’d come very good. But the questions out whether he’s got the will or football intelligence to do so.

Agreed, will be fascinating to see how he gets on at FGR.

Very sad to see him go and glad we will not be playing against FGR next year. He is a player who can frustrate and also electrify.

But we really do now need to find one or more RWBs, or possibly RBs if we change our system.

The fact Knowles had a year in the clubs favour and we didnt take that up, tells me talks were more to do with that the club were going to look elsewhere unless the player were going to accept not being first choice next season, which I’m guessing Knowles and Foulkes want to be.

Best of luck to Knowles, he doesn’t leave under a cloud and there is no animosity from my end.

I do agree with @P.T, tried hard but lacked any real quality. Sadler plays a system that doesn’t accommodate him beyond a square peg in a round hole.

We need better than Knowles, if the club have let him walk can only assume they have that something better lined up, over to Trivela and Sadler.

Yep, discussions ongoing means a lot more than just putting a contract out in front of someone.

I’m 50/50 on Knowles leaving, I thought we missed him when he wasn’t playing but always wanted us to bring in a proper RWB anyway so not sure where Knowles would have fitted.

I’d be fine with releasing Foulkes, he’s done okay but we need a bit more in that area of the pitch.

I did not see Knowles as being restricted to one position so I don’t think it was RWB or nothing for him. We may never know.

No news on Foulkes, I suppose, but he is unlikely to be our first choice.

Knowles partner said in a video posted on here a few days ago, that he hadn’t been given a new contract with us.

Is in the way Sadler wants to play. He could play upfront, but then he isn’t going to be first choice there either and like the RWB situation, do we keep Knowles or go for someone better?

Surely we’ll hear about Foulkes and Smith today as well.
Get all the ‘bad’ news out in one day.

Wasn’t he injured in the Forest Green game? Turned out to be a pretty pivotal moment in our season.

Can anyone remember whether it was a contact injury (I don’t know)?

Possible coincidences like this always remind me of the time we brought in George Dobson from West Ham on loan. We then loaned in Toner from Villa. In their last encounter they had a right ding dong! I think our media department had to do an interview with them both to prove that there was no bad blood!

Shocking - truly shocking. One of the best natural footballers at the club has gone to the grass munchers. Not impressed. Need to invest Mr. Boycott !!

Yeah I think it was the result of a tackle in the first half

No way we get rid of Captain Fantastic, we desperately need leadership on and off the pitch amongst the playing group. We’re trying to build here not rip what we’ve got apart.

You would like to think that they identified his replacement before they didn’t extend his contract.

It also looks as if Sadler got it wrong. Everyone was screaming for a RWB all season and releasing Knowles implies Sadler or the management have at last realised.
