The Official Summer No Transfer Rumours Thread 2024/25

One thing I would say in defence of the club not revealing their list is I’ll never understand for the life of me clubs advertising which players they are still in negotiations with. It’s like saying “hey everyone, this guys contract is up but we’ve watched him all year and think he is really good for this level, but you guys can tap him up for free!”

With the season ending what feels like quite early with plenty of time until the end of the month when you can actually start “officially” negotiating, I don’t really see the rush.

Reading the list of players released it’s not particularly inspiring to be honest. I thought Rushian Hepburn-Murphy and George McEachran, both released by Swindon, changed the game when they came on against us, but the former is a winger which we don’t play with and the latter not combative, which seems to be the thing Sadler most desires in a Midfielder, over things like say, skill and composure. Can’t see either and the rest of the list is … meh.

Thing with that is, any negotiations will be on hiatus now anyway, as players will be either on holiday, or about to embark on them, so not much will have changed by the time the club have been mandated to release the list.

Supposedly. Any agent not looking around for landing spots for their out of contract (and still negotiating) talent probably aren’t doing their job.

But I was actually defending the club. As I say, I find teams advertising exactly who those players are before they need to utterly bizarre.

No knowledge of fact either way but the longer it goes before the list is announced the more I can see us announcing new signed deals for several players (Smith, Knowles, Foulkes etc) and then publicising the released list.
Delay could be due to finalising deals.

I think that is likely.

Or maybe some contracts will be shortened, so some names appear on a different list.

Be interesting to see if Jackson Smith resigns ,think maybe decision about Evans future here and who Sadler sees as his No1 could well have a bearing .

Knowles has a 1 year option in our favour
If we offer him 2 years sadler really is insane

Last season the retained list was announced on the 19th of May and the 11th the year before

No chance Evans stays and apparently Smith is going elsewhere.

Fascinating insight into our potential transfer business by Walsall Fan TV (the joy and the pain). Will be interesting if any of those he’s heard were after will pay off.

Where is Smith apparently off to?

I to would offer Jamma another 12 months mate, ditch DJT, Flash and DJ will go I reckon.if we could sign someone like Bogle with Matt as more of a back up / pushing him and get another couple of decent strikers on board I would be happy with that. There are certainly some decent players now free agents

I’d love Sadler to sign the two Swindon boys that @el_nombre said had a big impact against us: Hepburn-Murphy and McEachran

It would signal a real change in playing style though - I’m praying that O’Kelly has a major influence so that players like Maher can also flourish.
