Met Linda a couple of years ago through work. Even with her north of 60, when she makes eye contact and smiles its a heartbeat skipping moment that never leaves you. Even the rabid troop of bad tempered dwarves rooting through my hot bag became momentarily inconsequential.

Will be up there with him and Grigg.

Tom Naylor is a good player aswell, remember him for years doing a solid job for Burton in league one. Likes of Michael Jacobs, Ryan Colclough and Ollie Banks in their squad aswell so 3/4 of it already good enough for top 7 league 2 I think.

His goal record is exceptional in the national league. Not sure why it didn’t work out for him at Peterborough or Fleetwood so perhaps hints at a Ferrier type attitude so that might be a risk but could do worse and it would be his last shot at establishing himself in the league.

Obviously we’d all want big name signings, like a Paddy Madden for example, but for me i just want smart signings that will genuinely improve us.

Like he’s had his injury problems last season, but more of the same like Farquharson from last summer. Done well at his previous club, come here and whenever he plays he is levels above the rest.

No excuse not to bring in several of those this summer, wage bill will be free’d up alot with big earners like Evans and Riley leaving, so the first four or five signings for me need to be ones of real intent.

That some sort of esoteric euphemism?:joy:

That’s the problem if the first signings are squad fillers some will jump off a cliff edge, whilst in truth the recruitment can only truly be judged on the week prior to kick off some may argue it’s at the end of the window

Some of the better players may or may not be considering numerous options so will take there time

We get this every year at this time. The transfer market doesn’t really take off until late June / July. The ones taking place now are like preliminary skirmishes.

People get impatient, there was a time when I used to count the days until it all kicked off again. I am enjoying the break, recharge the batteries and save a few quid. We have the Euros for a fix of false hope and probably disappointment. What will be will be, it will all come around again quick enough.

 and probably be exactly right about the quality of those players :man_shrugging:

Not wrong but everyone does judge player x as a starter when he is in fact sub unused lol

Let’s not waste money and resources on ingredients that are not needed and don’t work in a recipe we’re going to follow to produce something of quality.need good ingredients then good chef to to blend them together . I’ve had enough of bubble&squeak made from someone else’s leftovers.

And if he was any kop he wouldn’t be “sub unused” lol (allowing for Matt Sadlers team selection logic, of course).

Yep just there in case of emergencies just break glass, or in WFC way, “just glass player breaks” lol

I have to loff when i see posts about us paying a decent wage, when i know players have taken pay cuts from none league clubs to get the step up to play in the league :man_facepalming:

You said yep then said something counter opposite to what I said. It’s no good having emergency players that are shit anyway. You may as well put a kid in. Never mind the fact that we play so many games, and our budget is so tight that we can’t afford any passengers at all.

A bad signing is a bad signing.

Yep because I agree the better the back up the better
The joke was aimed at circumstances change and sometimes like fire extinguishers you never plan to use them then something happens so you do.
No need to make an argument where there isn’t one

I’d say you did that when you claimed anyone not happy with our early signings would be chucking themselves off a cliff to be fair. My point was we shouldn’t be signing anyone specifically to be a bench warmer period, so no, we categorically don’t agree :+1:

Ok :+1:
But one of us thinks the budget will stretch to eleven first teams and another 12 plus of equal standards and all happy to spend time on the bench or out of the match day squad.

Where as I believe the budget is better spent with more money spent on the best 15 or so with the others having less spent on them and even loans meaning whilst we will strive for the very best in truth there will be those that will just sit on the bench and be used occasional (foulkes DJT types) whilst others may well suprise and be better than expected (Draper types)
