NOW, we need players with experience to supplement Uncs and Lakin.
I look at MK Dons and understand the competition, but Port Vale’s wage bill was pretty mental for league two, so I think that the club need to work with players that won’t rock the boat.
Those are your ideals, not necessarily what will happen.
Getting the right players in is the most important thing to give us a chance, especially forwards. As for the rest, we’ll see.
I trust them less than I trust Sadler at this moment in time. They barely know the rules of football from what I have seen. And even worse, they genuinely believe last season was a success.
Last season will live long in the memory for all the wrong reasons. The first half of that season was a dream the second half was like a nightmare.
The supporters were magnificent and even though the numbers remained high it was an embarrassment to watch the implosion.
Trivela the players and coaching staff have to carry the blame for that and when the new season starts fans will not accept more of the same.
Unless there’s a significant change in Sadlers approach to managing players and games i honestly can’t see how numbers will not fall away plus it won’t take long before the negativity spills over at games. As to Trivela the honeymoon period is well truly over imo.
If this was anyone else with that record one division below us I’m sure everyone would be happy.
Can’t see it being true anyway but I wouldn’t be surprised if there is interest in him from clubs in League Two.
He was on a decent wage when he was on loan here as he was with Championship Barnsley. It’s why he ended up at Doncaster and not us. He probably was on less at Doncaster and then would definitely been on less still at Cheltenham. I imagine now with 3 years of injury hit indifferent league 2 form he will be available on average money.
I don’t think he was out of contract, so Doncaster may have been topping up his Cheltenham wages. That agreement may be over and Cheltenham now obliged to pay his full salary and can’t afford it or not worth it.
Or it means we don’t pay top whack for second rate. 9 in 40 last season. 12 in 41 for us. He was OK but, if you are going to pay more, it has to be worth it.
26 starts 14 as sub, he averaged a goal every 217 minutes of playing time in all competitions, second rate ?.
Yesterday you described Josh Gordon as a 1 in 5 striker and questioned why people wern’t excited by him.
Over the course of the last two seasons in all competitions (including the goal he scored when the keeper booted the ball against his arse) Josh Gordon has scored 3 times in 2,863 minutes, at an average of a goal every 954 minutes.
If George Miller is “second rate” I shudder to think what adjectives would describe Gordon.
I agree we, or anyone else would be foolish to pay over the odds for Miller, but he would be a demonstrable upgrade on what we’ve got in the building at the right money.
