People born later can have no idea how dismal Sundays were in those days. The only shop open was the paper shop. Pubs 12-2.00. Tele was terrible apart from Star Soccer and ,in the summer,JPL cricket
100% but on Ryan Wood looking at some comments on Exeter city forum, itâs stated that he was struggling with the new managers style of getting the ball forward quickly and when that happened he would be by passed and go missing in games, if true itâs possible that he thought our style might not suit him ???
Just a thought
Reading the latest NTT20 transfer update and their opening sentence on Woodsâ move states âAt 31, Woods doesnât run very much nor very quicklyâ which probably tells you why we havenât signed him, rightly or wrongly.
They do go on to be more complimentary about his technical ability however.
Saw walsall fans saying the same about stirk when itâs not trueđ¤ˇââď¸
World at War, On the Buses, High Chaparral, The Golden Shot, Onedin Line, The brothers plus all the church and gardening/farming stuff.
Pubs 12-2 and 8-10 opening.
I was always tasked with dragging my Dad out of the pub lock-in to come home for his Sunday dinnerâŚand then Iâd get sent upstairs to wake him up from his afternoon kip at about 7.30 so he wasnât late going back to the pub. There was always an uneasy 30 seconds or so when he first woke up with a chance of getting clobbered before he happily realised it was still Sunday night.
Same guy that claimed Harry Williams was off to Newcastle
Decent radio comedies around lunchtime.
At least you knew you were going to spend time with your family on a Sunday. Nobody used to go out, they used to save the best films for Sunday afternoon. The only thing I remember was going over Reedswood park for 20 a side football game.
if it hadnât have been for 2pm pub closing on a Sunday I would never have seen my dad
I think it was the first hence the 9,000 plus gate. Itâs funny other than being on a Sunday I donât recall much about the game although we won comfortably .
In the 80âs my mates and I aimed to visit all 202 Banksâs pubs on the Pint and Platter map. Weâd take it in turns every Sunday to drive and weâd done them all with the exception of one in Chirk, and 2 in Aberystwyth. We set out early, knocked off the New Inns in Chirk and drove to the coast. When we got to our target pub it was in darkness- weâd forgot that most of the Welsh counties were dry on Sundays. So the Sabbath was even more miserable in Wales!
Thatâs what im getting at mate
Loved Little house on the Prairie, The Waltons, Land of the Giants and while eating dinner there was usually a Carry on Film to watch. Then around 6.30-7 ish Last of the Summer wine.
Gone off track again ainât weđ
As my old man used to say âI wonder what kind of films the Germans watch on a Sundayâ
Wonder if there will be any trialist a and b tonight
Shoot me now!!
What about Heidi..loved that as a nipper..does that ring a bell

Wow, Sundays really were bad.
Whenâs Norwood signing? I like WFTV but he never gets any rumours right lol.
