Think we will get another striker without say Levi going out?

We already have what? Pressley, Matt, Gordon, Stuttle, Levi, Adomah?

We do have a readymade thread for all of this Levi chat…

Already seems to be question marks on whether Matt can play as much as he did last season, but still think he’ll play a part this season, even that’s just off the pitch.

Amantchi seems to be out of favour and Gordon is coming back from a season of injuries.

I’d say we need one more.

7 strikers? I can’t see that mate - that means 3 or 4 missing out each week?

Don’t think Adomah will be used as a striker during the season, i know he played there against Villa, but i think that was just because it was against Villa.

I liked him in the position he played at Leamington as a number 8, hopefully he’s used there.

This is Mat Sadler we are talking about mate :joy:

Really simple set of rules, shame to have to use suspensions but I will.

I thought Levi was the most sucessful of the strike options signed post Lowe departure last season, and came into a side where the team were running out of gas.

His physical attributes alone worried defences more than Harrison. Who was frankly, an appalling excuse for a league footballer.

I’d be shipping out JG instead of Levi every day of the week not that Levi is the messiah.

Midfield needs reinforcements desperately. 1 holding and 2 8s for sure

Flint…or the lad from Flint

One thing about Amantchi, he is our player. If for whatever reason we lose him or any other striker and bring is say for example Westley on loan, then that means we would once again be starting a season with two loan strikers, which wouldn’t appeal to me ever again.

As the devils advocate, wouldn’t you snap your hands off for another Lowe until January though? Firing us to wins galore. Only a leper could have messed that 15 point lead up.

I would. Not that it happens all that often.

At centre back we have Okagbue, who is now surely beyond the rookie stage with 66 appearances for us, Farquharson, Browne, Burke, Weir, Cox and, possibly, Hancock. And that is assuming Abui goes out on loan. Do we really need two more?

Agree about the midfield. Perhaps another loan striker…?

I think we desperately need a good CM

I think we will probably end up moving Levi on and bringing in a promising much thought of striker from League One on a season long loan

What could possibly go wrong ?

1 experienced centre back certainly needed, think we have enough then though for that position.
Defensive/deep midfielder certainly needed and is the priority in my opinion.
Maybe another attacking midfielder but we do have Lakin, Jellis, Maher and Albert, assuming Albert is used in midfield which he might not be.

So maximum 3 players needed in my opinion, although I’d be happy with a proven centre back and deep midfielder only.

Definitely need a:

  1. Experienced holding midfielder
  2. Another 8 or a 10
  3. Experienced CH
  4. A pacy forward

I don’t think anyone would have an issue with that. But better to me would be someone like Orsi, proven at higher levels. Even then it wouldn’t be 100% guarantee as everyone would’ve assumed Harrison would’ve been better than Amantchi based on his previous record.

I just think it is odd someone still reasonably young could well be moved on after six months when all of Adomah, Matt and Gordon won’t be here in 12 months so surely you’d want to keep a contracted CF and try and develop them a bit more?

This is where the AWOL meet the manager forum would be useful as less than two months ago Sadler decided to put Amantchi on the bench at Wembley ahead of Gordon, DJ and Harrison so he was good enough then for the role required.

Lolos from Bolton still not gone anywhere. Based on his Crawley form he’d be a decent pick up on loan.

Feels the sort that will end up at Notts County with how they’ve played last few seasons as they always have decent ball carrying midfielders.
