For perspective, we play Derby on Tuesday. They’ve just spent £7m on a new striker from the USA. He’s already out for the start of the season after committing to a minor operation.
I haven’t checked, but I assume that the transfer window closes at the end of August and yet our first game is on 2/08.

Only issue is if we get one or two injuries now in key positions we’re screwed. Get the players in asap to help bed them in.
Is that the lad who was at Drogheda? He is out for most of the season, I think.
They have to want to join though, and agents will be encouraging them to hold out for the best possible financial package (which is not usually Walsall FC).

Agreed mate. One caveat to that was we had the nucleus of our squad ready and of course lowey was a spectacular signing. We had a good start too. If we have a poor first couple of games( excluding Stoke) then the pressure will be enormous after how last season panned out. Busy couple of weeks transfer wise imo. Jonny has a lot of pressure on him to be in effect the Lowey of this season. Can’t compare the two for me as Lowey had appeared in the championship for a few games with Stoke and Jonny has nowhere near that experience. Hope it works out though. Still think we need 1 more up top, hence why i think maybe levi will move on

Fenton Heard still without a club, strong rumour at the start of the window. Hindolo Mustafa also hasn’t had a move yet although there were L1 rumours earlier in the window. Both midfielders
JCB,s work hard but never win football matches.
That’s the point I was making.
If we’re going to have a relatively unskilled player on the pitch for their hard work, I’d rather have the one that scores some goals.

Scoring goals is generally considered a highly skilled activity.
Relatively unskilled - Lower skill, relative to their peers rather than totally lacking skill.
Footballers are generally considered skilled or unskilled as a whole, made up of strengths and weaknesses that ultimately all get bundled together for the sake of an overall assessment.
Not for me, the planning for the season has to be just that, as the last three seasons have shown, building in an almost guaranteed problem half way through it doesn’t bring anything other than failure - and the problem is guaranteed - either the loan players are not up to it (Wheatley) don’t get game time and get recalled (Cleary) or are successful and are recalled (DJ, Draper, Lowe). Lets try something different.
The mods don’t have their favourites and they do an excellent job for no real benefit other than supporting the site they love
