If this is correct then we will have a really strong squad for this season. Up to MS to use them well over the season.

Surely pushes flash towards a loan move?

You would hope so.

Don’t dislike Flash but he has failed miserably for us, other than his time at Barrow where he scored something ridiculous like 14 odd goals ( where he managed to score against us here at home ) was a totally failure.

if he signs imho this squad is better than last season

That is our weakness.

Well let’s hope he has learnt from last season but I think this squad is stronger as well.

Pete Wild is a fan maybe Flash could end up with him at Fleetwood?

Having decided to move Amanchi on I find it hard to believe MS would sign a striker on loan with no intention of him being under regular consideration for a place in the team.
Makes sense to have someone to alternate with Stuttle.

I think a key to this style of play working is that you don’t just have back-up for each position. You have to have players in each position where you genuinely can’t say who the better player is. Looks like we’re moving in that direction.

I agree. If this goes through we will have real
strength in depth which should serve us well.

We’re building nicely uts I feel we’ve got a good squad if this happens uts

Be really happy with Mellon , fits the Sadler mould of mobile hard working front men . Would give us 3 really good options plus Matt as an option
Mellon didn’t set the world alight at Bradford but was still part of a team that got promoted!

If we sign him I’d expect one other midfielder and another centre half and we are about done I would say

MS speaks regularly about ā€œstartersā€ and ā€œfinishersā€, this is an area of the game that has changed a lot post Covid and the increase of useable substitutes to 5. MS is clearly a fan of changing the top 2 around the hour mark…

I was surprised that Matt got the nod over Gordon on the bench yesterday, as I thought Gordon offers more options than Matt.

Maybe there’s a reason for his omission.

I don’t dislike Gordon either, but the decision to sign him on a two-year contract after his far from inspiring loan spell when he scored ONE goal in 23 games, a figure I believe I could better even at my age, must go down as one of the worst pieces of business we have ever done. He needs to go asap. If the Mellon rumour is true, we then only need a quality CDM and we will be real contenders!
