The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread 2024 II

I suppose if you just miss out on a player you never had a chance of signing its good
Publicity.

I agree, I can’t see us getting Will Swan for 3 reasons: 1. Why would Mansfield let him come to us (of all clubs)? 2. Why would he drop a division and come to us? 3. He would cost us a fee!!

So, he ain’t coming - number 3 is the clincher!!

I think the best we can hope for is a consistent and prolific National League north/south striker, young and willing to develop. Wont command a massive fee and is an affordable model.

Someone like Ollie Pearce who plays for Woking, 43 goals in 46 appearances.

Scored a rediculous amount of goals yet is now 28. Wouldn’t be one for the future to sell i

My question is why hasn’t a league 2 team taken a punt on him by now ? Must be reasons why

Recently signed for York City anyway so a non starter

Suggested Pearce a couple of times earlier would have been a great signing , being 28 shouldn’t come into it , he started progressing up the ladder late . Will be interested to see how he does at York

Ok but Pearce is just one example… there are others and to those that say why haven’t other teams come in for him (York City have) equally could be said for any signing.

We are more likely to sign established strikers from lower down the pyramid than from above it and its less of a gamble than a released prem U21.

It is him

For those who were arguing that we aren’t short of goals to suddenly go quiet when the club say that there trying to sign 2 strikers is odd.

Surely they aren’t happy with the massive waste of money signing players they don’t think we need?

When posters talk about areas that can be improved, it doesn’t mean they aren’t supporting the club, or they’re being negative - some things are glaringly obvious and other things are opinion.

The conversation is a lot more interesting when you discuss the goings on at the club rather than just saying that nothing should change and then try to shut people down who disagree. Without looking at things objectively there’s really no point in discussing things - and that goes for both sides of the debates on here.

I also don’t want to hear any excuses about or from Sadler IF we don’t do well this season.

He has chosen to spend his budget on Jamille Matt and Josh Gordon.

Of course, could be a master stroke (which we all want)… or not.

I think the decisions regarding who we get in up top, as well as another 10 will be the pivotal moment for Sadler.

Good point @Thanatos
He didn’t have to sign them.
This is his and Trivela’s squad. They have no excuses.

Just read DC is saying how slow it is getting players in at Barnsley. So we, if any signings are being made, are by no means the only ones having to take it slowly…just putting it out there…

what the hell are you on about now !. The majority of people are saying exactly the same as me ffs

But they are not FFS lol

Sadler couldn’t wait to give a 2 year contract to Gordon and felt the immobile Matt, at the age of 34 (only having played around 10 decent games in 18 months), was worthy of a deal.
Sadler NEEDS to hit the ground running with his masterplan and style. He has had the stability in squad and backroom team and he’s blown enough smoke up Trivela’s ar*e. Success should be in touching distance :crossed_fingers::thinking:

Strange how you reacted and not @Pascal

I’ve read comment after comment after comment about how poor recruitment has been, the lack of any real forwards and the lack of investment from Trivela. Yes mixed in a with a few happy clapping observations

we must be reading a different forum !!!

But the “comment after comment “ come mainly from you. :grinning:

That’s not correct. Yes I may bang the same agenda but there are numerous people who think exactly the same !!!
