Totally get that mate. It’s a vicious circle. We would all love the club to give us a team that would fill the ground every week, something that in my opinion could happen

Agree mate lets hope for that one day :+1:

We couldn’t fill it when we had Merson and Samways playing for us

Historically they were. In fact, after the 70’s we hardly played them at all. A pretty small mining town in the east mids that are averaging 7k plus because they have an owner that has sold them a vision.
One of a number of examples of how far we fell under Boner and the challenge that Trivela have to meet to get us back into what us a much more difficult L1 than it was 5 years ago.

Different days though Mark. The popularity of football has moved on in the last 20 years.

We played them in the late 80s, I always remember Keith Cassells cos he has a very similar surname to me! And I think they were knocking around in division 4 with us when we were last stuck down here for a few years.

The thing is he hasn’t just sold the vision, there are clear signs for them that things are likely to happen. For us we are sold a vision often but nothing is even coming close to showing any progress. There was a brief moment last season where it looked possible.

I know it isn’t easy and every other team wants the same thing but we are seriously stuck in a loop at the moment.

I have been contributing here for well over a decade. Yet, I still face regular accusations that I am not a ‘supporter’. As recent as this week, in fact! Often people that should know better, too!

The fact some people choose to go every week is often used to try and devalue points of others, which outside of commenting on a game someone hasnt been to, is fundamentally wrong. Many of us have a plethora of experience and relevant points that we can bring from both following football and wider life situations.

I am a former ever present, turned regular, turned casual, turned rare attendee that watches on iFollow at every opportunity. I struck lucky and got a job I bloody love where I work weekends. Makes me no less of a Walsall FC fan than anyone else…just the same as people that have moved away.

If it wasn’t for the social aspect I wouldn’t bother at all. As I said, not done many so far but went today and I went to Morecambe, all I’ve missed really is the social side so looking forward to Bradford next week for that reason only.

If it was for the football only then I definitely wouldn’t bother.

Yeah i know a fair few these days that only still go for that and not the football mate my old man has been a season ticket holder for about 40 years and goes away every week as well that’s all it is for him these days. He went to Rushall last week instead of going to Swindon and enjoyed the football a lot more he also said you felt like they appreciated you being there unlike Walsall who just take fans for granted and have done for years.

Should of stayed on the sunbed

I returned to it as soon as their 3rd went in

There were some little kids behind us who were shouting out all the right football crowd utterings but not necessary in the right places. Their shrill little voices getting right on my pip.

Then I gave my head a wobble. Young kids on a day out engaged throughout with what was going on. What sort of miserable old git have I become?

Could have done without those two tossers running on the pitch though.

Seems as if we are stuck in this loop for eternity, when will it ever get better?
Watch on my screen week in week out and it’s like watching men against boys, no matter what team we are playing they always seem better than us somehow.
The ‘brave new era’ has come to the Bescot, but it would appear to be the same old same old relentlessly, no money being spent on the most important thing at a football club…players. No forward planning, no ambition, no nous about choice of Manager, etc etc, accepting that we are little old Worsul, and should accept our role in life as also rans at the bottom of the 4th Division.

I wasn’t there so I didn’t see it but I’d be fairly sure in saying they won’t be doing it again for a while. Zero tolerance on entering the playing are nowadays. Will be an instant ban I reckon.

Hmm. Instant ban you say.

There’s always next game, think of the money you’ll save…

Meant to be. Must have missed something I am guessing.

No, you haven’t.

I was just thinking an instant ban sounding tempting. How long do you get?

Quite a long jump from your seat mate

I think it may be 3 years but don’t quote me on that cos I’m not 100% certain. I know some fans that went on the pitch after the Wilko equaliser v Newport got bans.

Joking aside, it does my swede in how football fans are treated differently to the rest of society. Stick an orange bib on, inconvenience thousands of people, stop emergency services from doing what they do and you don’t get banned from roads. Set a small toe onto a patch of grass in a football ground and its multi year bans.

Obviously if there are aggregating factors then bans are right but merely encroaching, whatever the circumstances, and being banned is heavy handed.
