I think it stands up well, possibly because it was set in the past when it was made, or possibly because it was well written and brilliantly acted.
I hope Ben has had his “ snap, crackle and pop “ breakfast early and is doing his stretching exercises , he will need to be ready like a coiled snake to snare our targets.

On the BBC website report, comments section, some joker has suggested Wayne Rooney as Carlisle’s next appointment…

They appointed him in September after the summer window had closed, and then sacked him on the final day of the winter window after he has signed several players. I’m sure it makes sense to whoever is in charge at Carlisle.

Few signings starting to come through now in our division Bradford have signed Critchlow back and Notts another striker on a two and half year deal.We need to do something today and good.

I agree - could argue as it was made back in the 70s it could become rather dated - but the writing is excellent and the acting and comic timing of the cast is superb!

If I find UTS has crashed later today I will assume we’ve melted the servers when we find out Jellis has been flogged for £100k, DJ has gone on loan to whoever will play him for 90 minutes and the shock return of Lowe was sabotaged by Lincoln at the last minute ……… just for LOLS.
