The un-Official Winter Transfer Rumour Thread

Interesting, might be nothing but…

People on twitter saying Jellis turning down a contract isn’t a problem cos we have a year option on him…

Well, I can’t find any evidence on this apart from a Bescot Banter article.

The official news story for him joining us, and the E&S story page both don’t load.

Could be nothing, but could also be someone covering their tracks

Search on the forum from when he signed shows this:

Yep, and the page has gone missing.

Like I said, could be paranoia, but it’s a strange coincidence that the E&S article which presumably said the same, has also gone missing.

Jellis’ contract option is mentioned in this article from a couple of days ago.

When they updated the website it removed all news articles prior to that date annoyingly. can see it here

Yeh my mistake. Stand down everyone. Think his contract clause is safe

I personally think JJ will stay. Not many times in your footballers career you can have a promotion/championship on your record. We’ll invoke the 12 month extension even if he doesn’t sign an extension. We’ll be fine

I wonder if the E&S part is due to their ‘upgrade’ to subscription model as well.

How i see it is he has probably turned down an offer, but still has no intention of leaving.

He will wait until the summer where he will see if we get promoted, if we do get promoted he can demand a little extra money with the insurance of League 1 football with us.

I think he’ll be playing league one football next season, regardless.

I understand how JJ might have had his head turned, but my advice to him is show some loyalty, enjoy your football and get the job done. Then go on a brilliant holiday (Trivela are paying!) and sit down with your family and decide what is best for you by weighing up your options.

We obviously don’t know the in’s and out’s of why he’s rejected a contract but i just hope it doesn’t effect his performances or the teams morale.

If he feels like he’s too good for the club then good riddance.

Hopefully its just a case of waiting for an improved offer from the club before accepting.

Either way i think we will get promoted with or without him.

Has the club, sadler, jellis come out and said hes rejected an offer. Cause all i can see is an unrelated site to walsall publishing rumours. Till i see an actual statement from club, means nothing

He was offered a new contract about 4 weeks ago i believe.

Hope to see some positive contract news for a number of players over the next few weeks. That will be better than new signings in my opinion.

Niether the club of JJ have gone public with any contract news - and I’m absolutely sure that JJ isn’t the only contract they’re trying to renew - so as Andrew says above best thing to do is not to worry - it’s not as if we can influence things anyway.

The boss has already said January is bonkers and not to pay too much notice to noise from non-club sources….

Seems that much of this stuff is initiated by unidentified sources on third party sites… I think I’ll wait for something official before getting too excited or agitated

Strange things happen in football. JJ may well want to be playing in L1 next season and may want that to be with us but wouldn’t make sense to commit now unless it was some ridiculous offer as if we were to slip down, ultimately drop into the playoffs and not get promoted he’d have already nailed his colours to the mast.

Wouldn’t expect to see too many sign up until promotion is confirmed.

I disagree.

Need to start preparing for next season while the form is so so good.

DJ will be gone in the summer. Matt spectacularly proved me wrong so fair play but he will be 36 early next season and only played half a season in league one in the last decade and of course Lowe is unlikely to return for another loan.

Who knows how Josh Gordon will look on his return but we all know he won’t be scoring many goals at league one level.

Get in a Draper type on a permanent in this window and then look for another Lowe type loan next summer is what I expect the club to do.

Jellis will wait until the end of the season.

Huge decision in his career if Wycombe get promoted and they still want him. Will be a very big leap but at his age he can’t really turn down championship football you’d expect.

They stay down in league one and he stays here.

The club would never and have never come out and said anything like this anyway. There is no smoke without fire and I highly suggest the above has some level of truth in it.

JJ and others now when we get promoted the club receives more money for competing in league one and they want a bigger slice of it hence why they’re holding out.
A lot of what we read is “agent talk” they ensure their players names are in the headlines, when promotion is secured I would say he’ll sign as will the others, there’s a good environment at the club and players won’t be swayed elsewhere that easily if the club are competitive with wages and let’s be fair if JJ leaves along with others the club may have to spend even more to replace them where as it’s better to offer improved deals to existing players.
Trivela and co will have some difficult decisions to make in the next few months and I guess some difficult decisions have to be made.
