That’s why he flourished in a good team, and I think he would in this one.
Of course not, but there’s a difference between not being lazy and running around the pitch full pelt for 90 minutes putting in tackles.
It’s not a criticism of Sawyers, just an observation that is not his strength. He may be able to run around. I don’t know. It’s fair to say he didn’t in his last spell here (again not a criticism ,he wasn’t meant to the way Smith set up the side). Plus he is older.
You don’t need to run around the pitch full pelt for 90 minutes though to be very helpful Defensively.
Chambers didn’t run around like lakin jellis or stirk but as a defensive midfielder he was a class above all of them
Well I disagree there Adam Chambers got through a phenomenal amount of work. Indeed he had to so the likes of Sawyers could perform.
In my opinion Sawyers would add another option to our squad. His awareness and distribution was excellent and he covered more ground than people gave him credit for.
He is a class above league 2 and that is what we need to get promoted and compete in the league above.
We are top of the league by a country mile and to fit Sawyers into the team we would have to tweak our style of play to accommodate him, no way is Sawyers putting a shift in that Jellis and Lakin put in. I’d much rather we sign a young hungry player from non league with potential.
I don’t think we’re looking to change anything, it’s more a case of adding to the squad and having more options.
No one is suggesting that we pull apart anything that we’re doing.
I don’t see Sawyers as a replacement for Hall. Barring injury, Hall looked very pacy and has an eye for a pass. Sawyers has some quality on the ball, but I don’t think he’d complement our midfield with the way Sadler’s set us up.
I’m content with the current system. It works and we’re winning, what more do we want?
It gives us a plan B, and at the moment we have been fortunate enough to not really need one (beyond like for like changes of Lakin and Jellis and chucking Adomah up front). We are thin on the ground in midfield at present, and whilst we are top of the league it isn’t a forgone conclusion we are going up as anything can happen.
Sawyers till the end of the season with a chance to prove he can work in a Sadler setup, help get us promoted with a deal for next year in League One should it work out is an option I wouldn’t turn my nose up at.
Given he has left the Dons with something lined up he will probably have a longer deal than we would consider at this stage lined up anyway.
Bradshaw just 11 appearances and one goal this season…
Move out DJ and Stirk and bring the boys back
Ye I mean who would you start, Uncle Albert or Sawyers?
Winners usually add quality and keep improving, that would do exactly that.
I’d move DJ on and bring him in.
lol
I wonder when our first signing will be… i was kinda thinking we would have had a couple through the door already that we agreed before the transfer window
Effortless looks like laziness to someone who would struggle to do the same. No idea where RS will end up, but he would add another dimension to the team, probably. Maybe he wants to do coaching badges and WFC looks like a very good opportunity for that.
Exactly the point I came on here for. Making things look effortless shouldn’t be mistaken for lack of effort!
great point
They CAN speak to Colin Lee though…
Next season Walsall and Plymouth will be in the same league - this would be a rubbish move for Matt. Also I don’t see Matt as the an ‘instant impact’ manager.
I know we’ll naturally have more players etc linked away because of where we are in the table, but seems like 90% of the rumours that page posts involve us. Can January end already?
