I get that @JoaquinErnesto and it’s worked / working … but are we going to get 110% of what we need
But who at Trivella / WFC is steering this recruitment ship.
Because @Harlequin reckons it’s an uneducated stance to take. But looking at the Trivella site looks a bit lean to me. I see Jordan and then a load of finance people.
The Drogs are now full time ? And have Europe to plan and recruit for. It’s not a small job ?
The Danes are the big cheeses and the Yanks need to prove themselves to a sceptical fan base. Surely taking up Boycots time.
Yep Lowe has been fantastic but people are acting like the midfield will now keep tripping over the ball and the defence will just refuse to mark anyone and become a sieve.
There are some very good players in those positions now that the club own so while Lowe will be missed in the short term others can still step up and score off set pieces as was the case for much of 2024 to decide tight games like perhaps today could be.
There was a good quality of loans in the later DS days…George Evans, Milan was highly rated when he first turned up. Then Whitney continued with those contacts to get in Pennington, Tyler Roberts, McCarthy.
The club ethos is the most important thing and the club is on the up so I’m excited to see who can be attracted next season with league 1 on offer again hopefully.
Lincoln are acting like one of my kids when I suggest it might be time to get rid of one of their old toys that they don’t play with anymore. All of a sudden it briefly becomes their ‘most favourite’ thing in the world !
I think the uneducated is a point towards your stance on how recruitment works. We have to be realistic, as a club we are in League 2 so we will never have our pick of the bunch.
Sometimes we spot a player and get in early (even then agents etc will try and drum up other interest to maximise their return). However usually we wait for other cogs to turn in leagues above us and this is what led to us getting Lowe for example. Occasionally higher quality players are available early in a window and we can make that move, however usually once a club above us has brought in their reinforcements that’s when players that will improve us become available to move.
January is even worse for this because the amount of out of contract players is lower than the summer.
Of course we can make enquiries and have options ready to go however the one we really want may be being held on to by their parent club until they have their reinforcements in.
If we rush in early we run the risk of signing players that don’t improve us as a group and also then having players we didn’t really want whilst our competitors sign our plan A later in the window and improve more than us.
