A packed part 2 with Tom Knowles where he tells us what happened at the end of his contract that saw him end up at FGR.
Knowles also reveals a lot about the dressing room, games on away days, and the key figures at the club, as well as his close relationship with Joe Foulkes.

Another great pod.
Seems like he loves the club and although business is business, seems a bit unfair we verbally discussed a two year deal then didn’t give any form of update.
Wouldn’t have grumbled at him staying on to compete with JG and hope he does well at Forest Green.

Was never a wing back he could have stayed and done a job as a squad/utility player we have better options at wing back now.
Nice lad but won’t be missed. Hope it works out at FGR.

Great interview, and a nice bloke clearly still thinks fondly of the club as he was there last Tuesday watching us.
Hearing him talk however made me realise that we have moved on and improved even in only 2/3 months since he left, with some upgrades in key positions.

Cheers for the feedback guys
I think one of the main thing it highlighted for us was that the dressing room is very close. People know Sadler for trying to get the ‘right characters’ in, but I think in L2 having a team playing as a team is so important. Look at what happened when we got relegated… a lot stayed in L1, but together they were dreadful

Another good listen lads. Shame the club messed him about at the end of his time especially as he wanted to stay. Good getting a different few stories from inside the dressing room

Rumour at the time was the 2 year deal they offered was on reduced terms same with Foulkes
Yes he explains it all in the pod
Maybe it was the clubs way of saying they didn’t want to keep Knowles or Foulkes by offering less money. I’m sure 90% of people on UTS didn’t rate either of them.
Then they’d have just released them, as they were out of contract. They would have kept them, just not on the terms they had previously but took so long over negotiations that both had to seek alternatives.
I’d have liked to have kept Foulkes for what it’s worth as a back up to Barrett. I don’t think Knowles would have agreed to that (and for my money was the lesser wing back of the two anyway) and I think Adomah is to good at this level to forgo him attacking talents at wing back, but hey ho.
Me too, he’s so young and I think another season and he could come into his own. The only obstacle in his way would be lack of games, which is where we miss having a reserve team. He could have gone on a season long loan to Rushall or kidderminster.
