Thing for me about that season was it always felt like a massive F you to the rest of the division, established order and pundits opinions of us. There were a fair few clubs in that division with serious money behind them, and we were thought of as a band of waifs, strays and rejects with an old principled manager. Then we went and proved everyone wrong. It was glorious stuff.
Relegation favourites who’d lost their two best players and replaced them with cast offs. Maybe why many oldies love Sir Ray so much
It was certainly a foul against Finley, compounded by the player who fouled him cheering when he was sent off. The referee was absolutely shocking and as biased towards the homeside as you will ever get. . Looking at the extended highlights 3 of Walsall’s goals should have been chalked off for offsides, and there was a clear penalty for us masked by a Walsall player rolling about feigninh injury. I think we were seriously done today by cheating and a terrible official.
The club should definitely appeal against that sending off.
If those cheating &&&& go up I hope they come straight back down again

Tbf the majority on there are complimentary towards us.
Stirk superb today, 8 wins, 5 draws we are up
Yeah, why not! We can turn the Arbo lake into an inland sea, and buy some sand from Wickes - I’m in!
Prostate playing up again?
I think they were originally from me! I’m sure I’ll still have them. I used to use a capture card which was rare back in those days!
Stirk was my man of match today, he just gets around the pitch so well and is so efficient and effective both in and out of possession. Class player! Well done to all the lads today, they all look up for it and clearly enjoy playing together. UTS

Possibly mate, I couldn’t remember where I had got them from. I have had some enjoyment out of them, so thank you.
He has been superb and a perfect mentor and foil for Lowe.
George Kirby /Alan Clarke .
Jamille Matt /Nathan Lowe .
Takes two to Tango .
Ah so kind mate! I’m all good, just crazy work wise, bit burnout tbh! Been lumping on our Super Saddlers though, what a team!
Ps is the Owl knackered @Scooby2167
Here’s a longer version of the highlights from the Sky site. These probably won’t work outside the UK.
These magnificent men of the Mean Machine , I think I first said back in August or maybe early September this could be a special year and boy is it turning out that way.
This midfield reminds me [not necessarily in the way they play but in the understanding they have] of the 1980’s side , Stirk is i think becoming the unsung hero of the season , he holds the middle together and controls the play he’s the super glue we’ve missed these last few years. Jellis adds the spark and life , its a special special time.
The stroll to 83 points is now down to 28 points from 22 games, based on the league table today such form would land us about 14th or 15th which would be some drop off. To reach the magic 83 we need
7 wins
7 draws
8 defeats
The charge to 100 points [45 points to go] which started as a malarky post a few weeks back is now not such a foolhardy thought, a stretch too far perhaps but is still alive
13 wins
6 draws
3 defeats

Stirk’s weaknesses stood out again today.
In particular, his reluctance to challenge for a 50:50 (meat and drink to Kinsella/McEntee/Comley) led directly to his ‘own goal’.
Nice he got his first goal of the season for us too.
Might get more than last year’s poor effort if he remembers the importance of getting a shot on target.
You called it early! Stay smug.
Great win, and a score that clears the Fleetwood aberration off our goal difference.
I’ve not read above in great detail but how good is it two have defenders that aren’t just brick walls but have incredible passing ability. Harry’s pass through to Adomah is levels above league Two. Also something that I think will go unnoticed is Dave’s pass through the middle for James’s first goal its at around 50 seconds on the sky highlights, teams are so used to us going wide that it creates so much space in the middle and we have the vision to find that in game. I hate to say this but Daniels days are numbered, when he was in the back 3 at the end it’s almost like they were targeting him and we didn’t look as strong.
Having just 1 player of the season and young player of the season is totally insufficient. How the F%@# are we supposed to vote for that!
