Tranmere Rovers (H) Jan 11th, 12.30pm kick-off

Very fair and balanced view from him in general but I do think he makes an interesting point about the size of our squad (forget Jamma’s song for a mo!) - whilst I’d agree we’ve got a few relatively big players, I’d say we’re average size across the entire team so was that his way of excusing their inability to effectively handle set pieces?

He mentioned our counter play once which we know can hurt teams but these losing managers rarely talk about how we totally and utterly dominate teams in the second half of games……

Long may it continue - UTS

It’s just such a poor attempt which lacks humour. Give up would you.

No subtlety or creativity to their play, it’s just so non-league.

You referring to @futuresobright or Tranmere?

Tranmere aren’t that bad

I think their manager does us a bit of a disservice seems like he’s saying we are just a big physical team when in fact some of the football we play is very good and effective.
For the first 30 minutes yesterday we played some great stuff and were full value for the 2 goals, unfortunately after the sending off we allowed ourselves to get dragged into a battle that we didn’t need to be in.
However the early second half goal saw normal service resumed and it could easily have been more than 5.
Some superb performances yesterday and the week off definitely seems to have been a blessing.
A massive thumbs up to everyone who pulled out all the stops to get the game on a great effort.

Lowes through ball for 4 th goal (jellis)
was a joy to behold.

Totally agree with your comments about Lowe.
He is blessed with an eye for goal as we’ve all witnessed but he isn’t selfish with the ball and will readily bring others into play, something that could easily go unnoticed. Watching him play is an absolute pleasure.

I thought we were incredibly comfortable (second half in particular) and didn’t really show the intensity we sometimes do. That’s not a criticism, we didn’t need to, it was very controlled and we still scored 5. We just seemed to step it up a few times and get the goals. We look a very good side. Tranmere were dreadful though.

I mentioned it on the Notts County thread but Lowe’s goal yesterday meant that was the 5th consecutive game he’s now scored in. Who holds the club’s record sequence?

Allen playing lcb has 6 assists and 5 goals. That’s impressive stuff

But that’s not his job

It was worth going just for that, real class.

I don’t take too much notice of what managers say after games, although it can be quite amusing sometimes. He is a man fighting for his job I’d imagine.

We aren’t a team that relies on set pieces this season, or really height up front. Lowe is our top scorer this season, as he even scored a header? Jamma has scored a fair few inside the 6 yard box with his feet.

They already mugged us off for 3 points this season, I think they should be grateful for that robbery, was never going to happen yesterday.

And all with his feet, which is unusual for a CB.

In fact, we haven’t had that many headed goals this season. Jamma has had a few, and DJ scored a beauty.

I see Aston Villa ladies played a cup game at the Poundland Stadium today hope they contributed to the cost of the heated bubble cover …

Shame the temperatures didn’t stay low for another few hours, stop them clowns playing

I was told on Saturday most of the costs of the heating system were found by the EFL ( after advice from Sky) and Aston Villa. A good deal in my view followed by a very good result :grinning:

“advice from Sky”
I’m sure they made the EFL an offer they couldn’t refuse.
