Trivela Group Takeover

He can’t understand why Trivela didn’t pay cash to buy Walsall.

All of this makes me wonder if it worth supporting the club any more. Using it as a cash cow for investors whilst at the same time not investing in the team in any meaningful way. Why bother?

Just our luck to be taken over by the only skint Yanks in league football! We should have known when they appointed Sadler - he was the cheap option. If we want investment, then the club will have to generate it itself. It’s going to be a feckin’ long season! Get used to League 2, we ain’t going up!

It’s worth remembering that in the US, there isn’t promotion and relegation and fans go along whatever. That isn’t the same here, and Trivela have yet to fully understand this. Pomlett should have sorted this out, but seemingly has made another bumbling mess of that as well as everything else. This season is make or break for me, I can’t keep spending my money and time on an investment project. For the first time I am realistically fearing relegation, we are a basket case club.

I’m not fearing relegation although if we don’t add well in the striker department I may change my mind.

My biggest fear/worry is endless years in League 2 happy to tick along with no real ambition to progress. It feels a bit like going to hell for eternity.

Why would an investment company put money into a League Two club? An investment company must get returns otherwise it would be a failed investment company.

So, where is the return from a league two club?

There is the value of the fixed assets such as land / buildings. This would increase over time but would only be realised upon being sold on.

Revenue streams can be increased. We have seen this with the price hikes etc.

I guess then there is the “variables” such as player values where money can be made by selling assets to make a profit. eg Hutchinson. However, to make big returns you have to be very lucky.

What is the point of investing in a pretty crap but well run league two outfit other than looking to sell in the future? If you want to maximise profits you dont go round spending needlessly. You spend the minimum amount needed over time to maximise the future profit surely.

Trivela are investors. They are not football supporters and certainly have no emotional link with WFC.

They will not be looking to invest large sums into our club without guaranteed returns. Players are not guaranteed returns and as such would be a risky strategy.

Welcome to minimal investment into the playing side (my opinion)

I’m as pessimistic now as I was optimistic when Trivela took over.

This 100%

But if they want to sell at a profit they need a successful football team. The only way I can see them getting a good return on their investment is if Walsall FC gets in the higher reaches of Division 1. I am therefore very surprised at the perceived lack of investment in the playing side. It doesn’t make sense to me. Relegation would be a disaster for them as well as us. However unless something happens before the transfer deadline it looks like that isn’t their view.

Interesting post just now by one of our investors, reckon this is to do with us?

Because it’s mainly hyperbolic, rumourmongering knackers.

Nothing interesting, looks like they googled it.

Depends what people mean by “investment in the playing side”.
I get the impression from a lot of people that say this, they are expecting Trivela to bankroll the playing budget by ploughing their own investors money into it.

No we want them to invest our money into the playing side before it becomes the investors money

I don’t know why you talk about profits or returns. I’ve seen situations, when all that investment is good, when they break even. Especially when there are taxes involved. Especially income taxes. I don’t know where Trivela invests, because it’s irrelevant. It looks like they lack footy knowledge. Maybe they will learn it, maybe not, who knows. But do they need it? I’m guessing they know a lot about investing, so not much difference to JB times. Most importantly, they probably don’t have much money to burn. Even including a DJ contract as a cost and signing someone else is a challenge. No one said it will be an easy ride, so let’s hope the situation will improve and some leftovers are still in the pocket. But if not, it can be a bumpy road.

We are in purgatory! Stuck in no man’s land - mid-table Division 4 - hell will be the National League!

I agree. I am not suggesting that. The Club’ s income must be bouyant so I am surprised at the apparent lack of investment in the playing side especially in the key area of goal scorers. Maybe it will change but at the moment I am very disappointed.
If not much happens before the deadline I hope we can be told why. Communication from the club this Summer has been very poor. Hopefully the new Chief Executive can get things moving on that front.
