Trivela Group Takeover

Spot on! The investment in this pre-season has been pants. If we’ve had £250k for Hutch, where’s that gone? We must have a big transfer war chest, just ready to invest in quality strikers….and then I woke up!!

Nah, just the usual business talk to sound important. Sounds like something someone from The Apprentice would come out with.

Well if they’re not investing in the playing budget, what is the point in them?

We’ve got essentially just sold them the ground, and allowed their yank mate to sell beer in it… win win win.

It’s all a bit murky isn’t it? No-one really knows what their priorities are and what they hope to achieve. At the moment it doesn’t look like the playing side is a priority, all I can hope for is that Ben Sadler can set the focus to success on the pitch and recommend that it’s time for Pomlett to be a fan only and nowhere near the boardroom.

Say what you want about Trivela, Boycott , Polk , Jordan and co but they are better people than we’ve had run WFC in the past. The article below shows the type of person Boycott is , so simple question who would you rather have BB or JB (this article has been posted before)

Yes he has a strong belief in god but there are worse things to be in life than a Southern Baptist/ Methodist.

Edit - the article also highlights what BB hopes to achieve from the investment in WFC .

If we are honest, the club was well screwed and maybe TOO far gone BEFORE they took it on :disappointed_relieved:

Make money, why else would you buy the club!

At last, some honest common sense in this thread! Patience appears not to be a virtue for a few who shout loudest, but Trivela are going about their business exactly as they said they would, incrementally. Every supporter, and I’m sure Board member, manager, player, ticket office lady, steward, cook, and all, want Walsall FC to succeed and win promotion back to League 1, but this is real life not Football Manager and these things are far from easy. There will probably be more disappointments ahead before that’s achieved but I’m confident it will be in the fullness of time.

I like Trivela. They’ve massively increased the wage budget since taking over (that’s a fact, it’s in the accounts), cleared out the old board, bought the stadium and I like what they’re doing with O’Kelly.

I think they’re good owners and the budget is far higher - it’s just not easy to see it as I think we were spending better previously.

We need to improve player recruitment significantly and I think (without sounding like a broken record), those problems are down to the manager.

They’re running it as a business, as Pomlett and Bonser did before.
The difference is they are investing their own money in the infrastructure to improve it.

There’s a lot of businesses that are far easier to make money in than football.

Maybe maybe not.

This is a tiny investment group, chances are they got the ground and land at a cut price. Meaning any investment is covered with some profit on top already.

It’s not an investment that will make big money, it’s more of a nest egg I guess.

Worth noting, this really isn’t an investment group, it’s a few folk with a fancy name. I think it’s a tad miss leading myself.

Im interested in the metrics here? How are we qualifying these owners?

I disliked Bonser as much as anyone, especially the mess he left us in, however we cant just ignore the spells of sustained championship football that was achieved under his reign.

Trivela seem good guys for sure, but that doesnt always translate into success. Some of the most successful chairman in football are clearly career psychopaths.

My overall thoughts are that this preseason has cemented ourselves as 4th division also-rans. Not something that I am particularly excited about if I’m honest. I think most expected a little bit more at this stage

Yeah bloody impatient sods!!! It’s only been 1920 days since we were relegated! Bloody impatient lot, it’s not a bloody video game (ignore the countless other teams that have bounced back immediately, or gone from bottom of the league to the top of it in one season).

There’s one criticism of our fans that is total and utter bollocks in whatever form, and that is a lack of patience, the attendances have actually gone UP since relegation despite year on year of boring finishes and poor football. We have an incredible away following for this level. They attend fan focus and ask respectful questions 3 times a year. It takes a fair amount of bad results for anyone to display frustration at the ground. The team are regularly clapped off after losses.

Utter nonsense.

Both of you are right. Supporters have been very loyal and deserve better. Trivela are doing exactly what they said they would do, trying to have sustainable progress, having as much continuity as possible and building a community.

Both them and the supporters need a boost on the pitch to cheer us all up.

Well one is calling fans impatient and one isn’t. The fans haven’t been impatient, full stop. Whatever Trivela’s plans are, its up to them to bring success to this club, the fans have done everything they can, including buying up tickets they’ve boosted up by a hundred quid in two years.

Extremely debatable.

I have my doubts and criticisms of Trivela.
Not going to elaborate on that, virtually everything I could say has already been said by others on here.

My question is, if not Trivela, who?

The ideal owner for me, would be a supporter who has the financial wherewithal and the will to pour money into the club.
Money that they are willing to write off.
I am thinking someone similar to the owners of Mansfield, Stockport, even Vale.
I don’t know of anyone who fits that criteria though.

Trivela aren’t by any means ideal, there are definitely worse (as we have seen at other clubs)

The positive that I can see, so far, from Trivela’s ownership is that they don’t appear to be nightmare owners.

To be fair, I don’t think it’s A) realistic it will be anyone else for sometime and B) That even their most fierce critic could say it’s been so bad they want them out the club.

My personal feeling is that they’ve come into a club and been told, by board members in the past who treated the fans the same way, not to worry about that lot up in the stands too much. They’ll put up with almost anything because they are loyal. We even used to make money in the Bonser days.

And when they’ve come into the club they’ve realised, actually, buy this lot the ground, build them a new pub and I reckon we’re untouchable in the court of public opinion. I also think they’ve realised that hold up a minute, we can spin a few thousand each year, plus whatever we make on the mortgage and probably start focusing on expanding our profile for the multi club … “oh look this Irish club is available!”

We were “well run” before they came in, business wise. I think they have seen that and thought “actually we don’t even need to stabilize this club, we can keep it ticking over”.

I hope they haven’t underestimated how worn down a lot of the fan base is and also how just ticking over isn’t the solution. I see lots of excuses for why Trivela can’t just plough money in, but these people called themselves accelerators. The only thing they have accelerated so far are the prices. A bad season this year and they might be in for a nasty shock.
