Thats what I was also thinking but surely the players agent knows the contract length and there’s nothing stopping them letting other teams know.

That doesn’t make sense.
Within the last 6 months of a contract, a player is allowed to talk to other clubs. So the notion that other clubs/agents wouldn’t know is nonsense.
The only people being kept in the dark are the fans, which makes no sense.

Its a bizzare, i can only think they don’t want to us to state the contracts we are giving out at this time. It does seem like a pointless secret to keep though, as its a business where every body talks.
Got to be honest, when you see and hear things like people basing any potential fee for Dobson on “he’s got two years left on his contract”, and asking if we got a fee when Ismail signed for Bradford, you wonder why we ever bothered disclosing contract lengths in the first place, for all the notice that gets taken.
Not sure if this has been shared before.
But looks like Jules signed for 2 years, according to the words accompanying this insta post. Perhaps that is Clarke’s default for players not on short term deals.
