W 1-0 vs Oldham Athletic (A) – Wed 10th Dec, 7.45pm (League Two)

There’s a limit to wanting history to repeat itself….

It’s fairly similar but this time round the teams are a little more bunched up from 1st to 9th.
I note that at this stage we’ve only scored 6 less goals, and conceded 1 more than at the same stage last season. With the games feeling a lot less free flowing, it’s surprising that there isn’t really that much difference in scores.

I was going to this but had to return my tickets yesterday. Got a refund

Steve, we’ve only conceded 18 so far, so one less.
But yes very similar to last time and only need another 8 straight wins from here for the 10 in a row in the league as @AndyWTaylor was saying.

Their defence is incredible, it will be an incredibly tough game but I just fancy a backs to the wall 1-0 win.

Not sure tbh. Im going but feel a home win - 1-0

Don’t tell me, I’m advised to take my seat at five and twenty to three . Bit early I know but I’m a good boy.

I was at that game. A very wet day in Oldham! George Kinnell was their star that day and we were chanting **ckinenell as the goals went in!

What a team that was and what would we give for Cannon Ball Colin Taylor. Hardest shot in football :soccer_ball:. Back of the net.

Not with Doc Pace up front…

I find it hard to believe that a gent like your good self would indulge in such vulgarity!

I’ve always thought that Ken Hodgkinson played and scored in that game.

Gutted I can’t make this one. Sorry @belgian_saddler our old Christmas tradition of freezing our bollocks off on a Tuesday night at ice station Oldham will need to take a rain check.

Like all of them, it won’t be pretty. But we’ve a little bit of competition for places in some key areas now. I hope Okeke is fit as he adds a bit more guile than Vinny.

So I’ll go 1-0 to us. Aden Flint winning a battle of the giants tussle with Manny Monthe to nod in at the far post from a Weir corner.

Safe travels to all those coming up.

Well I was young then but despite the scoreline and the rain I recall enjoying the day. That team was a good one and the fans were very supportive .There was no segregation in those days and the chanting was in response to the Oldham fans support for their team and Kinnell.

Thanks for posting that. I wish I had kept my scrapbook of match reports.

Lots of interesting things there. Ken Hodgkinson in the line up but Ken Hodgkisson in the report - he seems to have been playing as a false 9. And what a short team that was! No subs, of course and notice Harris being treated off the pitch - we almost never see that these days.
