W 1-0 vs Sutton United (A) - League Two - Sat 30th Oct, 3pm

That’s a good observation. Both Phillips and Kiernan hang on to the ball for too long at times and don’t always see the pass. That is also an observation rather than a criticism btw and is possibly part of the reason they are plying their trade in Div 4

To be fair he made a fantastic last ditch tackle at Orient after coming on and did the same on Saturday against Barrow as well.

I don’t think it’s a lack of effort and he has got physical attributes. I worry we are sharpening a player who will go somewhere else next season and be decent.

I suppose it’s the mix of seeing the pass and being able to make the pass, but at our level you’re likely to only have one of the two, if either.

It’s a rotten standard isn’t it this league.

I suppose it depends what you compare it with Scoobs.

As a relative young ‘un (compared to some of us) you won’t have witnessed the dross that Div 4 was 30 or 40 years ago when a neck brace was required between matches and the pitches were mud baths from November to April. Very little skill on show, mainly brute force.

I enjoy the standard of football in this league far more than in previous campaigns.

Not everything in days gone by was better, despite what the old ‘uns try to tell ya.

100%, he was probably the best player at Tranmere and scored a cracking goal against Newport so there’s definitely something there. Again with these players who are on their first senior loan there’s bound to be inconsistency, but he’s got the raw attributes to succeed at this level at least.

Very true mate I guess I don’t really have those days to compare with but I would love to have been there as I’m guessing it would have been better than nowadays especially with the 18-25 year olds I have to work with.I’m 40 and at work all day I listen to Gold on DAB digital the likes of Bobby Vee Bobby Darin Elvis Presley Wizard etc etc I have no idea why but I’ve always been drawn to the times before I was here problem is the younger folk than me today don’t even know who the names I’ve mentioned are so before you know it the days we speak of will literally be gone.

The 70’s- 80’s will never die, my nephews and nieces have grown up listening to the music that WE have listened to, and now their children are listening to it through them

Spot on it went downhill massively and about 6 weeks ago was only one open late on so I called in, best chips I’d had in a long while.
Back to game I’d be happy with a draw, Sutton will make it hard for us, I reckon 2-2 with miller and Osadebe on the scoresheet.

Sutton currently 2-1 up at Colchester, who have just had a man sent off.

Sutton have pasted these so far Rob more than holding their own in this league.

They have alot of pace in there team ward and monthe are going to struggle against these lot.

I’d be more than happy with a point that’s for sure.

I’ll have a look for it mate and give it a bash.

Not gonna lie I’m not looking forward to this… hope I will be surprised but can only see a Sutton win… how far have we fallen ??

I used to own/live at #13 2 doors up from little chippy.

The chippy owner at the time owned both cottages next to it and put them up for sale.

Lovely little cottage (listed building) paid around £75k at the time (2001).

My Stepson went to school with one of O’connors daughters.

I know @Exile has banned any further off-topic posts, but I just have to chip in …

You mean Carol’s. Which school were you at to be able to sneak out to it? I was at Old Park infant & juniors, moving up to Wood Green comp in the mid-70s.

My cousin lived just over the road from Carol’s and we used to get free bags of batter bits quite regularly. You don’t get those with yellow chips, only orange ones! :fries:

OH FFS. Set up a fricking chip shop memories thread!
