I’m going for 1-0 with a piledriver from Ward.
It’s about time he chipped in with the odd goal.
We don’t need to, we have done it on here
Stuart Bathurst.
Literally a stone’s throw from Wood Green (not that I was ever one of those throwing them!)

davidusa,
with Shade completely left out of the squad
Why? Spent weeks not having enough attacking options on the bench and now we’ve finally got the ability to change it up mid-game.
We have attacking options on the bench, Tom. Otis Khan has been available for the last two games and has not been selected.
My criticism of Shade is purely from an attacking aspect, he’s a winger with pace but seems reluctant to attack defenders. When he tracked back the entire length of the pitch, at Orient, to block Harry Smith’s shot, I stood up and applauded the effort, it was brilliant. I wish he would use that pace to go around defenders.
Yes, he scored against Newport and I thought he would progress from there, but, imho, he hasn’t at least from an attacking standpoint.
He’s got to show me more than he has done to convince me to change my mind.
These was a Saddler from Bilston Road that went to Bathurst in the mid 70s. His nickname was…Chips! IIRC his actual name was Sid.
I wonder if this is anything to do with him being very right-footed and usually playing on the left wing? Clarke and Dutton did the same thing with Wes Mac and Holden or Wright last season. Wilkinson also cuts in but, to be fair, manages to be more dangerous when he does. It’s rare for our players to go on the outside - the full backs try (and White did it magnificently on Saturday) but our forward wide players rarely do. Basically, Shade struggles to cross with his left foot.
Just don’t understand this desire to play wingers on the ‘wrong’ side of the pitch. Fair enough try swopping them over at periods in the game but i would always favour someone trying to beat a full back on the outside and then cross it with their better foot. If we had a reincarnated George Best would we play him on the left?
The idea is they become goal scoring options in lieu of a second centre forward. To be fair I’d say its worked so far with Wilkinson, Phillips, Shade and Kiernan all chipping in with goals.
8 goals from 20 games the wings have provided so far this season, more than either striker scored in an entire season last year.
He played on the left a lot, although his right foot was the stronger.
Managers are always trying to overthink the game of football, but fail to realise it’s brilliance in it’s simplicity
Lets be fair, some of those managers include Jurgen Klopp (Salah left footed on the right, Mane right footed on the left), any manager that has managed Ronaldo (right footed, left wing), Pep Guardiola (Messi left footed right wing, Pedro right footed left wing, Grealish left wing, right foot, Silva right wing, left foot).
There’s some pretty good managers there.
Exceptions
You forgot Dutton and Badgeman from that illustrious list…
In fairness, it was one of the few things Clarke did that I agreed with and thought was a good idea when he explained it. Think he said as much after signing McDonald.
Shame he never bothered signing a winger for the other side.
They may cut in from the wing, but it means the front men don’t get the service, like Sutton were getting last night.
As was the case at the weekend, Sutton do like to lob high balls into the area with three goals directly or indirectly from corners at Rochdale and Colchester.
I think Taylor will need to take some ladders on Saturday.

Maybe he will play his 3 giant centre backs?
Your full back is supposed to overlap and, as worked on Saturday, provide that service (and as happened in that video for Sutton’s first, the other two are set pieces, one swung in with the left foot from the right hand side).
Miller was literally in the paper yesterday talking about loving the chances we create for him.
Having watched those highlights I hope our goalie doesn’t make the same mistakes as the guy in Colchester’s team.
Hopefully our keeper performs a little better than the Colchester keeper
