And he’ll have spent three of those years playing for us.
Confident we can bounce back tomorrow 2-1 to the Saddlers.
I’d like a repeat of last season. I’ll settle for a 1-1.
Absolutely not.
It’s historically been a tough place to go.
Time to assert ourselves again . 2-0 will do.
I don’t fancy us at the moment, narrow defeat or a draw at best.
The referee for this one is Aaron Bannister from Sheffield. This is his second EFL season but he has not officiated a Walsall FC fixture prior to Saturdays game.
He has however officiated a couple of Harrogate Town games, a 1-5 home loss to MK Dons in October 2024 and a 2-2 home draw with Grimsby Town in April 2025.
Lets see how this one goes.
Our form over the last 4-5 games has been pretty poor - we have lacked quality. We need to start playing a bit more football and stop hoofing it so much. The midfield needs to get on the ball more and play in the forwards, rather than us just looking to force an error. I just don’t feel very confident with this set of players.
It’s time we rotated the squad a bit.
I’d rest Elvis, Rico Browne, Finnegan and Warrington. Hope Jellis and Burke are fit. Jamma/Roofe and Comely to come in for me.
Also time we picked up a win - particularly after last Saturday. Hope the game isn’t frozen off - it’s a long way to go and I reckon many of our 600 fans are probably making a weekend of it up North.
Yep me too. However I would put Clarke on the bench and be tempted to push Weir into midfield and put Cox LCB
Our form wasn’t that bad prior to Saturday. We just didn’t have a cutting edge missing countless chances against Barrow and Cheltenham for example but we do need to get back to winning ways. I expect us to do that.
Jamma really😳
I watched the game against Eastleigh on telly and thought we were outplayed in the first half - we looked bereft of any real quality. The same last week against Colchester: we were totally outplayed in the first half and created very few clear cut chances in the second. I wasn’t impressed in either of those games. I hope we can improve tomorrow.
I dislike noon kick offs, it means I have to get up at 6am on a Saturday morning!
I guess it’s for a worthy cause…it better be. We need to start out on the front foot and not find ourselves 2-0 behind as we did against Colchester last week. If we do get ahead, it will be a comfortable victory and able to take all three points home.
Okeke in for Harper. Gotta be done
Important how we bounce back today, another poor result and backs will be up against the wall.
A win and we move on again
People wanting to start Matt shows what a sorry state our team is
Interesting that the Match thread for this game did not appear on the home page until last night….seems to sum up the current malaise feelings that we have, that this will be yet another defeat to a lowly team.
Hope Sadler has had words and picks a team capable of at least scoring, dropping Elvis as he contributes absolutely nothing (though who he will bring in to replace him with our stunning selection of forwards available is another matter).
Come on Walsall give our travelling fans something to be proud of, even doing something in the first half for a change would help!
