…and Blackpool are in the doo doo.
I do remember a kick off used by Buckley where he passed the ball directly to a wide player and off we went.
I am surprised more teams don’t touch the ball sideways for a player to shoot. It’s worth a try occasionally. A few teams, including Walsall, tried it when there was a golden goal in extra-time.
I reckon the Bromley trick is partly psychological, to put out a message that “we are going to grind you down.”
True true true
Yeah it was here
Yes, there’s that and although not mentioned by you or the article the fact that the team taking the throw have a player out of position (the throw in taker), which gives an advantage to the other side.
It makes you wonder if there should be an alternative to a throw in because the team putting the ball out of play shouldn’t gain an advantage from doing this. I know Arsenal Wenger was arguing about having ‘kick in’s’ rather than throw ins because of this eventuality.
Personally I wouldn’t like ‘kick ins’ though.
He did change it, but for me Sadler got the starting 11 wrong. Warrington and Harper were always going to be be a risk, facing a rough, tough form team. Perhaps in saying he took no pleasure in replacing them at half time was an admission of such.
Interesting that Sadler also said he sent the team out with orders to get it wide and not lump it down the middle. Matt was always going to be up against it chasing hoof balls, but as we played it on the floor and into feet he too had a far better second half.
Getting it wide has had us found out, recently. Down the middle, but on the floor, should always be an option for a midfielder threading a pass. Not only a sniffer, Kanu, is excellent playing on the shoulder and scoring from through balls, as he did against Eastleigh and Harrogate. I’d like to see more of that.
You do need a registered account for ours, but it is free too - you don’t need to have a match/month/season subscription.
That’s good to know. Thanks!
How do I actually access them?
On the Saddlers+ app or tab on the OS. They’re under Videos/Browse.
You do usually need a subscription covering a game for the full replay (although they are sometimes available for free accounts to) but the highlights and extended highlights are viewable by anyone with an account.
Edit: Here’s the link - https://www.saddlers.co.uk/videos/browse
Exactly.
Extended highlights up on YouTube now.
Did Priestly get 2 assists?
Did he get the touch onto Kanu from Flint’s header?
It definitely came of him or the defender. The angle behind the goal suggests his shoulder.
Definitely Priestly Herr G-Otto Flick
Its probably been said already, but that third goal is really pleasing seeing the drive of Finnigan, Adomah, Clarke and Okeke to chase that clearance down and push for a third when it would have been easy to just sit in and defend that late on, especially with Flint off the pitch.
Finnegan’s initial challenge was the catalyst.
Noticed finnigan is coming to terms with how sadler wants him to play and looks fitter and putting in more challenges and more importantly chipping in with goals .
Four goals now and two controversially disallowed.
