Wonderful. Life is good as a Saddler - or even a Sadler - these days. Another good weekend.
Superb from start to finish today. Well deserved win and onto forest green next weekend . Come onnnnn UTS
Well done to all involved to get the game on. The pitch was really cutting up throughout, but we stuck to it against a good Doncaster side I thought.
5 wins on trop, it does feel great at the moment to be a Walsall fan. Whisper it quietly, but even if we do miss out on the play-offs, it feels like something special is happening.
Ball wasn’t bouncing at one point. Thankfully the rain let off.
Very good performance and win. Teams haven’t worked out how to stop our set peices which is such a threat. Taylor Allen deserves a contract
Really good performance and result. Fantastic to see!
Game of 3 thirds I thought:
First third - Us on top, dominating and controlling. Got the goal, looked composed.
Second third - Let them back into the game and switched off a bit. They had the ball a lot and we were a little casual at times
Third third - Us deciding to get moving and force the attack, rewarded with two goals.
I thought Comley and Allen were very good today and the new look back 3 continue to impress. We had industry in midfield and commitment in attack. Hard to fault any of the players. Well done Matt Sadler - you have them playing
and you have them playing for each other. UTS!!!
Im not 100% convinced unless this remains his position because a midfielder being able to come out of defence in a back 3 is such a big plus. By the time hes pushed up the pitch, we are already far further forward giving us better territory and better options with his distribution, something our traditional centre backs simply cannot do. I have to be honest here and say I wouldn’t drop him.
Great to come down and see a win and excellent performance. Let’s not underestimate Doncaster…they’ve been on a good run of form, are an excellent team and also had a nasty side to them.
We can create danger from so many different players now, it’s hard to defend against us.
Once again, great tactics from the manager. Number 37 was their playmaker and clearly a very assured player, but we completely cut off supply to him through hard work and positioning.
His dead ball delivery and some of his passing is very good. If we lose Taylor Allen who is developing very nicely Walsalls loss will be another Teams gain
Agree his delivery is one of the best in the squad how old is he now?
23 I think
This team
Allen is starting to mature and looks a confident player now. We should definitely be keeping him.
Doncaster passing got very very boring to watch
I’m an advocate for possession football but that was just silly
23 or 24 I think. His delivery is very very good and I wouldnt want to lose that
It will but where does he play if everyone is fit?
A good performance today from the whole team and squad. Even with all of Doncaster’s possession i still didn’t think we looked.under any great threat. Their goal did come from a bad choice by Liam Gordon to come more inside which left their man out wide completely unmarked to put a good cross in
Fantastic the way both the side and the fans reacted to the equaliser. There seems to be a massive unity all around the Club now which is fantastic to see and hear.
Great to see Josh get his first goal since coming back. Worked his nuts off again. Hope his injury is not too serious.
Man of the Match for me should have been Paul Mason and the ground staff for getting the game and the work they did all through the night and since dawn this morning. Pitch was unplayable last night, and the work they do goes unnoticed and doesn’t get the praise they deserve. Well, done, Paul
Has there ever been a time over the past few seasons when everyone is fit?
The fact he can do a job in a few positions is a bonus. Decent player to have in the squad at the very least. I guess it depends on what promises he wants before signing a new contract.
He’s had 2, 1 year contract offers from walsall. He won’t stay for that again as will be able to do better
If I did have one worry it was L Gordon who seemed to lose his bearings completely for 20 mins or so in the second half. But I like him and hope he reflects on that period and looks to improve his concentration
